These practices are positioned to grow in the area and within our FYidoctors family. Both clinics are housed in attractive buildings with well stocked dispensaries, with diagnostic equipment that include: Zeiss OCT, Optomap, Visual fields, and an on-site edging lab – split between the two clinics. As we grow, we continue to add further diagnostic equipment to support the ODs in these locations.
Pincher Creek and Cardston both are within view of Waterton National Park, and a gateway to the outdoors for many summer and winter activities, including hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, skiing and cycling. Both towns have populations of approximately 3,000 people, however the draw into these communities are in excess of 25,000 combined.
Rural practices offer loyal patients and allow for Optometrists to see a varied population of patients, including those that need management of ocular disease (like glaucoma and diabetes), trauma and patient care not always readily seen in patients seen in a larger center. The scope of practice in Alberta allows for good remuneration for management of disease and full scope care, versus other provinces. Lethbridge (population of 93,000) is less than an hour from each location, and Calgary is less than 2 hours away. Our FYidoctors practices in these larger centers offer support to our ODs in both of these locations, to help with day-to-day practice and coverage for holidays. We have an opportunity to provide services to one of the largest First Nations Reserves in Alberta and FYi has a commitment to care and products that will grow this portion of our practices.
We started as a group of 30 Optometrists in 2008 and have grown to 400 Optometrists across Canada in just 10 years. Today, as Canada’s fastest growing Doctor Owned eye care provider, FYidoctors team includes respected leaders from provincial and national associations who are dedicated to the values long associated with Optometry.
