POSITION SUMMARY - The Transportation Human Resource Coordinator is responsible for providing guidance, support, and coordination with in the Transportation Department. The main responsibility of the Transportation HR Coordinator is to assist the Senior Human Resource Business Partner in every aspect of Human Resources. This coordination will be done through consistent and effective application of policies, procedures, and practices of the FreshDirect Human Resources department.

Essential Functions:

  • Respond to Bargaining Unit, Corporate Employee, Manager and Supervisor questions and concerns regarding all HR functional areas and contractual agreements to include but limited to:
    • Company & Union Benefits
    • LOA’s
    • UTF & Company Guidelines, Policies and Procedures
    • HRIS
    • Basic Payroll Questions
    • Company Sponsored Programs such as Company BBQ’s, Food Programs etc.
    • Letters of Verification
  • Ensures the proper maintenance/filing of all employee personnel information electronically and manually
  • Assists department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures
  • Ensures all payroll issues and concerns are handled to avoid back pay or retro payment issues 
  • Assist with the unemployment process ensuring all claims are answered in a timely fashion, as well as schedule witnesses and prepare documentation for hearings
  • Process post-accident drug testing, ensuring testing has been scheduled and results received with a sense of urgency
  • Helps ensure the timely execution of all HR Programs which include but not limited to:
    • 30 Day Chat Sessions
    • Exit Interviews
    • Employee Focus Groups
  • Assists in organizational training and development efforts with scheduling and proper filing, compliance of mandatory acknowledgments and signoff’s
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings, attends departmental meetings and seminars when necessary to ensure proper communication within departments as they concern HR implementations and rollouts
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource preferred and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through previous experience and/or education
  • Two plus (2+) years of relevant HR/Admin experience with an interest in learning and developing HR and business skill set
  • Experience working in a Union environment desired
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

  • Ability to be creative, resourceful, pro-active and innovative
  • Outstanding and proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to focus on teamwork, project management and follow-up
  • Comfortable juggling and coordinating multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic and changing environment
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to proactively identify problems and offer solutions/ability to work without supervision
