Position Summary:

The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day to day activities of the site / shift / work center, ensuring the highest level of quality of service is provided by our associates, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives and following company safety standards.

POSITION IS FOR OUR MANHATTAN FACILITY

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee and coordinate order fulfillment, processing and production requirements in Department / shift work center and resolve problems within span of control to the standards set by the company.
  • Oversee delegate to and direct a staff from 5 to up to 25 individuals and move people and resources as necessary to meet the needs of the business as business grows.
  • Assist and participate in productivity / setting up production and staff schedules in accordance to budget and/or business needs and ensure all breaks and lunches are taken as required.
  • Manage attendance within the team, reassigning as necessary to fill gaps in team
  • Identify and train talent for the department including coaching, training and needed material to accomplish that
  • Facilitate and monitor department setup and opening procedures
  • Inspect and ensure follow through and compliance with: Food Safety, General Manufacturing Procedures (GMPs), Safety & Sanitation compliance and FoodKick Quality policies; as well as ensure that the work area is safe, clean and organized for all team members to work.
  • Guide, direct and motivate shift staff on quality, performance and safety targets to ensure ongoing performance
  • Identify means of improvements, suggest processes and their controls and documentations
  • Aid plant leadership in troubleshooting problems
  • Oversee usage and handling of all equipment used in department including safety, PM’s and report all issues immediately
  • Support and participate various company projects, initiatives and programs as needed including holding and participating in daily huddles and other communication programs
  • Demonstrate operational principles
  • Understand and work through customer complaints
  • Report all grievances and accidents to management
  • Lead team on a day to day basis, handling day to day routine employee issues and manage conflict resolution

Interactions:

Supervision Received: 

  • Receives clear, detailed, and specific instructions and consults with Operations Manager on all matters outside the scope of daily responsibilities/activities
  • Plans and carries out work assignments and handles problems in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted practices in the occupation. Consults with leadership on unique situations, which do not have clear precedents.
  • Trains and assigns work to team members on a daily basis; is able to perform the same work as the group on a daily basis

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of six (6) months experience working in a warehouse / manufacturing / food processing environment ideally with some previous supervisory experience
  • Speak and write clearly and informatively in English
  • Able to read and interpret written information in English
  • Basic reading and math skills
  • Able to work a flexible schedule / cover various shifts to include weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Competent in following oral and written instructions
  • Must wear non-slip resistant shoes
  • Ability to work in support of the team
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
  • Follow policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to start overnight or early morning hours (start times vary)
  • Able to stand for long period of times
  • Ability to perform twisting, turning and bending
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40lbs repeatedly
  • Comfortable and able to work overtime based on business needs
  • Must be comfortable in warehouse/production environment
  • Ability to meet production and accuracy standards in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Detail Oriented
  • Ability to work in climate from 32 to 38 degrees

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Knowledge of departmental production processes, materials and production and sanitation techniques
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • 18 months experience working in a transportation / warehouse / manufacturing / food processing environment, ideally with some previous supervisory experience
  • Bilingual English / Spanish (spoken and written)
  • Required to successfully complete and acquire certification for FoodKick Team Lead Program when offered
  • Experience in Transportation and Logistics a plus
  • Experience in Dispatching and/or Routing a plus
  • Experience in a related field a plus
