POSITION: Manager, Outbound Operations


REPORTS TO:  Sr. Building Manager


Position Summary:

The Outbound Manager is responsible for managing the day to day activities of the department, ensuring the highest-level quality of service provided by our associates, while supporting the policies, goal, and objectives of the company.


Recipe for Success- 


  • Direct all merchandise flow and allocation of resources (Loading of trailers, sorting, staging)
  • Drive productivity through performance management processes
  • Participate and help manage programs to reduce late boxes as they pertain to outbound shipping schedule
  • Provide ongoing support to department managers 
  • Ensure all procedures, policies, and shorts awareness are thoroughly understood by support staff 
  • Work with sortation, transportation department and Operations management to create and streamline processes
  • Clearly communicate company objectives so staff is well informed
  • Train, motivate and develop support staff to reach their fullest potential, optimize productivity and achieve   team goals
  • Direct, Coordinate and manage order fulfillment, processing and production requirements and resolve problems within span of control to the standards set by the company
  • Manage staff schedule in accordance to budget and/or business needs by utilizing the staffing model designed by department (where necessary)
  • Resolve employee grievances and concerns and partner with HR on high level investigations 
  • Identify and train talent for the department including coaching, training and develop matrixes and standards of continued excellence
  • Ensure follow through and compliance with: Food Safety, Safety Compliance, and FD’s policies around quality
  • Guide, Direct and Motivate staff around performance management and labor planning
  • Be a change agent by: Identifying areas of improvement, implementing new processes and documenting them accordingly with the partnership of Sr. Mgmt. 
  • Oversee usage and handling of all equipment and machinery used in the department; including safety, PM’s and report all issues immediately
  • Support and participate various company projects, initiatives and programs as needed



Key ingredients –

  • High School diploma/ and or equivalent and demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through previous work experience and education
  • Three plus (3+) years of experience in a supervisory position
  • English Required Bilingual preferred in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Proven ability to lead, train and develop a team
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Knowledge of department production processes, materials and production techniques
  • Principles and procedures of personnel Recruiting, Selection and Training
  • Active Learning, Listening Skills and Critical Thinking Skills to find effective solutions for any problems that arise
  • Ability to manage, motivate and lead during periods of change and disruption
  • Ability to counsel and discipline in a positive ‘change behavior” atmosphere 
  • Previous Knowledge or experience with specialized inventory, warehouse operations systems

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Previous knowledge or experience with WMS, ERP or MPS
  • Experienced in food, perishables, consumables and / or short shelf-life items a plus
  • Manufacturing, production, sanitation, food safety knowledge, HACCP, GMP, and OSHA a plus
  • Knowledge or experienced in Shipping, Receiving, and / or Distribution Center activities
  • Time management and prioritization skills
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop a successful team
  • Must be resourceful and exercise strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to assist in recruitment, interviewing and training of new Associates
