Description

The Controller role is responsible for overseeing the timely and accurate processing of daily accounting functions as well as coordinating period closing processes, maintaining accounting systems, and helping to develop and implement policies & procedures. 

The Controller must provide clear communication to the accounting team and ensure we're always up to date with our customers and vendors. Efficiency and detail management, a solid understanding of GAAP, as well as the ability to provide seamless, friendly communication on behalf of the brewery.

This is a supervisory role with broad responsibility for accounting and finance activities at Fort Point. 

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and conduct full cycle accounting processes.
  • Enforce and improve accounting policies & procedures.
  • Clearly communicate and coordinate authorizations responsibilities for efficient workflow.
  • Work with the AP Coordinator to ensure timely communication with vendors to resolve account discrepancies, billing adjustments, apply credits and resolve payment issues.
  • Oversee AR and collections activity.
  • Review weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and audit financial reports.


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • 3+ years accounting experience with a thorough understanding of GAAP accounting practices and principles.
  • Strong computer skills – Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • SAP Business One, Netsuite, or other similar ERP usage.
  • Experience reviewing financial documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proactive, self-directing and project oriented. 
  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience with Manufacturing business cycles (Beer or broader CPG industry preferred).
  • Previous personnel management experience.
     

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Knack for layout and design of reports focussed readability.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATION/SKILLS:  

  • Orchestrated Beer (SAP Business One)
  • MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Advanced Excel skills required
  • Proficiency in text editor (Google, Microsoft, Apple).
