Taproom Manager

The Taproom General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our retail location, namely overseeing operating procedures and and managing a team of employees committed to our growing company. The ideal candidate will be a skilled and motivated leader, an excellent communicator, and a forward thinking professional, driven to think critically on any issue.


Taproom Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of Fort Point Beer Company retail location
  • Enforce operating procedures and policies as established by Director of Retail
  • Train, manage and coach a staff of 5-7 employees
  • Maintain and order all product -- beer, food and merchandise
  • Monitor and report upon sales, labor costs and inventory management
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food/product safety, and branding requirements
  • Protect guest and employee well-being through effective safety and risk management

People Management

  • Effectively manage and build an empowered team of professionals
  • Execute training programs and initiatives to foster team-building, recognition and professionalism amongst employees
  • Perform administration related to employee documentation, cash handling, payroll and scheduling
  • Understand and enforce company policies and procedures to remain consistent with Fort Point brand  

General Management

  • Maintain a high level of service in all areas
  • Maintain strong relationships with neighbors, vendors, and industry personnel
  • Resolve problems and respond in a timely manner to all escalated customer service issues
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with Fort Point management
  • Regularly report upon relevant financial performance, personnel efficacy and customer insights to Director of Retail



  • Collaborate with Experience team to execute events at Ferry Building
  • Assist in executing occasional offsite events
  • Analyze current procedures to optimize efficiency and customer experience
  • Regularly communicate industry innovations and retail operation optimization to Director of Retail


  • High school diploma
  • Experience in management of hospitality or retail location
  • Passion for beer and the growing craft beer industry
  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Apps, ability to learn new software
  • Must be highly organized, with ability to independently manage a calendar
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills



  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong understanding of beer styles, industry, and history
  • Experience as a General Manager of hospitality or retail location
  • Maintaining food safety and kitchen organization
  • Draft beer systems—operations, maintenance, and cleaning
  • Basic food prep, especially knife skills

  • Ability to sit and work with hands and arms for at least eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week
  • Physical ability to stand up to 8 hours a day, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, and walk
  • Hand and finger dexterity for grabbing, lifting, etc.
  • Ability to move at least 150 lbs., and lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills in English
