Our client, a leader in Pacific shipping, is looking to hire a HR Manager. The role reports to the VP of HR. Position Summary:

The HR Manager manages a broad range of HR services with support from HR staff in benefits, compensation and HRIS. Works with management partners in Finance, IT, Legal, Operations, and Sales and Marketing.

  • Senior professional level knowledge of HR management principles, practices and functions including but not limited to benefits, compensation, risk management, staffing, employee relations, and talent management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage interactions at all levels to provide service and support to the organization
  • Provides quality coaching and guidance to stakeholders
  • Ability to build buy-in and direct HR initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effectively conveys information at all levels in writing, verbally, and electronically

  • Conducts the work of HR with an understanding and respect for customs, cultures and differences
  • Acts with personal, professional and behavioral integrity
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information to make business driven decisions and recommendations

Education, Essential Skills and Experience

  • 4-year degree; advanced degree is desirable
  • 7+ years of experience in human resources including but not limited to employee relations, dealing with labor unions, compensation and benefits administration, performance management, implementation of HR information systems (preferably Oracle), recruiting and selection processes
  • Prior business partner experience integrating HR solutions to meet business needs
  • Project management experience
  • Experience implementing HR programs and measuring and evaluating effectiveness of those programs
  • Budget management experience
  • Prior responsibility for maintaining accurate records and timely reporting
  • Exposure to labor negotiations processes and laws and the administration of collective bargaining agreements preferred
  • Experience administering HR controls and processes in keeping with Sarbanes Oxley compliance
  • Proficient at managing/organizing information with Windows-based applications; working knowledge of Oracle EBS, Taleo Recruit and Perform preferred.
