Purpose of role

 

The Web Development Lead is responsible for the design and development of all web properties including associated information and technical architecture process.  This includes the design and implementation of portals within the over-all computing infrastructure and capturing the requirements for these web properties in order to identify the techniques and technologies required.

 

Key responsibilities/accountabilities

 

  • Drive advances in web technologies and architectures in order to increase the value delivered by Sitecore technology
  • Define Sitecore development standards and best practices and ensure adherence to the defined standards
  • Stay abreast of evolving web standards
  • Adhere to Enterprise Architecture standards, take guidance from the Enterprise Architect and lead the team of developers to implement the designed solution
  • Lead the development of design and development-related artifacts based on Enterprise Architecture deliverables
  • Ability to apply critical analysis as it relates to technical feasibility studies, system design artifacts, UML designs, and business requirement documents
  • Assist with projects and initiatives by assessing proposals and designs for architectural compliance (application, data, infrastructure and business solutions) before, during and after implementation
  • Develop high quality and high performing Sitecore-based web solutions from detailed specifications
  • Perform code reviews, manage code repositories and provide guidelines to multiple cross-geography development teams
  • Work comfortably within a cross-geography multi-team environment while understanding the importance of meeting client delivery deadlines
  • Maintain open communications on current project status, risks and challenges
  • Become a recognized subject matter expert within fields of expertise

 

Key qualifications/competencies

 

  • University degree in information technology, computer science, or equivalent educational or professional experience and/or qualifications
  • 3-5 years of web application development experience, preferably utilizing Sitecore CMS or similar WCMS.
  • Demonstrated experience in technologies including, .NET framework, design patterns (MVC, etc.), AJAX Technologies, LINQ, Angular JS, SAML, service registries, SOAP, XML, RESTful services, BPEL, integration design patterns, and governance
  • Firm understanding of software engineering methodologies such as object-oriented design, and design patterns, including MVC
  • Experience in testing methodologies and test-driven development methodologies
  • Strong working knowledge of software development methodologies including agile variations
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management principles, ITIL processes and COBIT framework
  • Proven knowledge of information technology security, confidentiality and privacy practices and regulations
  • Strong verbal and written business and technical communication skills
  • Ability to map technology to business problems and vice-versa
  • Superior analytical/problem solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Effective time-management with the ability to work under constantly changing conditions and tight deadlines
