Drafter I - A & E

Architecture & Engineering Glendale, California

The drafter position will be responsible to design,coordinate and manage designer responsibilities. This position will report to either the civil engineer or the chief architect according to the design discipline (civil engineering or architecture).

Responsibilities:

  • Perform CAD operations to document conceptual designs, construction layout and/or as-built information as requested by supervisor
  • Self check for drafting mistakes and obvious errors before presenting work to the supervisor
  • Conduct research for the assigned task as required
  • Perform field verification if required by your assignment – coordinate with field personnel as needed
  • Coordinate drawing information between the architectural and civil work groups
  • Coordinate with other members of the work group (civil, architecture) as needed
  • Become facile with Forest Lawn CAD standards and design details related to your design discipline
  • Deliver assigned tasks within the appropriate time schedule and in a professional manner
  • Assist with the refinement of standard construction details as requested
  • Assist with the refinement of CAD standards as requested
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date area control schedules (civil) if requested by your group leader
  • Prepare and maintain accurate calculation maps (civil) if requested by your group leader
  • Prepare and maintain accurate park wide master maps for utilities, topography, boundary and roadway repair information (civil) if requested
  • Prepare and maintain accurate park visitor maps if requested
  • Prepare and maintain up-to-date park master plan maps
  • Assist with scanning of existing drawings if requested by your supervisor
  • Assist with the annual file map recordation (civil) as requested by your supervisor
  • Prepare drawings for custom memorials, wall plaques, inscriptions (arch) if requested by your supervisor
  • Prepare drawings for other departments as requested by your supervisor
  • Perform other specific duties as requested by your supervisor
  • Assist in project design & construction projects (when assigned as Design Manager)
  • Coordinate the process flow for Design Development / Construction Documents
  • Support the project manager with the permit, bidding process, and other necessary related duties.

 Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • 2 years of AutoCAD technical school, or equivalent
  • 5 years of full-time AutoCAD work experience, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (Architecture or Civil 3D).
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD skills such as sheet set-up, scaling, dimensioning, layering and x-refs with the ability to translate designs and details provided by others into a coordinated drawing set.
  • Proficiency and understanding of construction document layout and detailing including plans, elevations, sections, details and schedules under general supervision
  • Basic understanding of algebraic, geometric and trigonometric concepts as they relate to graphic design and CAD layout
  • Proficiency in general office software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Sketchup, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and 3D Studio Max modeling, rendering and illustration programs preferred
