Objectives of this Role:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Director, Digital Strategy, to join and lead our growing team at Fingerpaint Medical, a full-service medical communications agency that thinks creatively and solves complex challenges. Reporting to the Managing Director, Insights & Connections, you will own digital and engagement strategy creation for assigned brands and most notably work on ongoing management of several social media initiatives for medical affairs clients, as well as search engine optimization for client websites, social listening opportunities, collaborating with our designers on user experience (UX) strategy, and CRM and email programs. This position will be responsible for senior cross-department collaboration on brand strategies and commercial and medical approaches and oversee digital strategy integration into individual tactics.
Additional responsibilities include educating and consulting clients from an organizational, technical, and programmatic digital best practices perspective. This position will also work closely with Fingerpaint Medical decision makers, other department heads, and additional stakeholders to ensure internal projects and initiatives are completed up to digital standards & best practices.
A successful Director of Digital Strategy should be able to identify key channels, audiences, and outcomes for various digital marketing initiatives; be able to identify cross-channel dependencies; and prioritize initiatives, as well as create and lead an actionable plan. The ideal candidate should also have a successful track record for delivery & completion of metrics and insights that address leadership needs within client organizations. Healthcare/Pharma experience is necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads digital growth efforts for assigned clients
- Leads digital case study creation for assigned clients
- Develops key insights to provide strategic approach and recommendations for brand planning and new business opportunities
- Thought leader who participates in conferences, marketing, and other business growth-related activities
- Responsible for data-informed growth opportunities to deliver business impact
- Develop, implement and manage social media campaigns and community strategies across all relevant channels
- Work closely with the account services and scientific services teams to solve immediate problems and capitalize on opportunities to improve the social community
- Stay informed on industry trends and the social landscape, applying learnings to client's business
- Maintain a pulse on all key platform changes, sharing implications and needed actions with clients
- Initiate and manage continuous and event-driven social listening campaigns covering a variety of objectives
- Bridge the communication gap between technology and marketing both internally and with clients
- Lead discussions with Creative & Development teams to ensure UX & UI best practices are met for all digital projects
- Partner with Creative teams to provide trends, develop ideas, and maximize the use of technology to bring the ideas to life
- Work with account team members to maintain the highest level of customer service and satisfaction, including presenting to clients as needed
- Ensure internal & client facing digital initiatives are executed with digital best practices in mind, and offer data and/or clear reasoning to help guide decision making for such projects
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations as necessary (Ex: Google AdWords Certification, Pharma Advertising & Compliance Training Certification, etc)
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field
- 8-10 years digital consulting, creative and/or strategy experience (Healthcare/Pharma required)
- Strategic/big picture thinker with an ability to operationalize
- Exceptional writing, communication and presentation skills
- Proven ability to successfully work with and guide senior-level clients and internal Agency teams
- Expertise in building social media strategies and cultivating scientific exchange
- Expertise in SEO and tools such as Moz, SEMRush, Screaming Frog, etc
- Expertise in email marketing and tests, as well as tools such as Email on Acid/Litmus
- Strong working knowledge of web development
- Strong familiarity and understanding of emerging digital trends and technologies
- Strong passion for and knowledge of technology, emerging media and the Internet – including social media, SEO, CRM, and other digital marketing tactics
- Strong leadership, management and analytical skills
- Digital agency experience is a plus
