POSITION SUMMARY:

Equitas Health is seeking an outstanding Registered Nurse to lead our clinical team at our Cincinnati Medical Center as we expand to better serve our patients. The Charge Nurse is responsible for directing, organizing, and supervising the work of nursing and medical assistant staff.  This position coordinates efforts to ensure that effective patient care is being provided and that quality standards are met. The Charge Nurse will perform both supervisory and clinical nursing duties. In collaboration with providers, the Charge Nurse will coordinate patient care, assist and support the provision of medical and nursing care throughout the clinic. Qualified applicants will have a demonstrated passion for patient care, particular interest in the LGBTQ community and people living with HIV/AIDS, strong leadership ability, and excellent communication skills.

PAY RANGE: $59,720-$74,650

 

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Management Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with top management, interdisciplinary teams and other stakeholders in order to develop, implement and evaluate programs and services. Works with the Director of Nursing to implement new workflow processes.
  • Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting Equitas Health philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations; measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommending adjustments.
  • Protects patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols; enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Evaluate performance of clinic team; monitor competencies and provide feedback; provide regular supervision.
  • Coordinate work schedule for clinic team, including approving time off and coverage for absences. Interview and select candidates for clinic team.
  • Ensure vitals, health histories, phlebotomy, immunizations, injections, health screenings, and overseeing medication refills, prior authorizations and referrals are completed in a timeline manner;
  • Coordinate care with physicians and nurse practitioners;
  • Identify training needs of staff and process improvement needs of team;
  • Apply evidence-based healthcare practices and nursing standards;
  • Run reports and analyze reports for trends or concerns.

 

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
  • Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching and counseling patient, friends, and family and reinforcing their understanding of disease, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Provides information to patients and health care team by answering questions and requests.
  • Resolves patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Conduct nurse visits, triage patients, and coordinate care with physicians and nurse practitioners;
  • Apply evidence-based healthcare practices and nursing standards;
  • Assist with Transgender patients, as defined by the Lead Nurse Practitioner
  • Maintaining accurate, complete health care records and reports.
  • Administering medications to patients and monitoring them for side effects and reactions.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Qualifications:

  • Ohio licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Certification in CPR/BLS.
  • Five years or greater experience in a medical setting with two years’ supervisory experience.
  • Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work efficiently under time constraints.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with a large team.
  • Able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing practice standards.
  • Must have sensitivity to, interest in and competence in working with people from a range of cultures, people living with HIV/AIDS and the LGBTQ community. 
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and other computer applications required. 
  • Epic experience preferred.
  • Reliable transportation, driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.
