Cost Control Lead - Burlington, ON

  • Complete ownership of the cost control function
  • Open new jobs, enter budgets and enter change orders in Jonas
  • Perform weekly job cost analysis
  • Reallocate costs in system as required
  • Implement earned value reporting on monthly and quarterly basis
  • Oversee and analyze variances to earned value and project budget reports and provide explanation
  • Post WIP entry, prepare WIP monthly report and ensure that it reconciles to GL
  • Ensure A/R, AP and fixed asset sub-ledger reconcile to the GL
  • Review GL expense accounts for expenses that should be capitalized
  • Maintain fixed asset sub-ledger and reconcile to the GL
  • Prepare monthly GL account reconciliations
  • Review income statement variances in comparison to budget and provide explain
  • Prepare Eiffage reporting package monthly
  • Ensure trial balance is balanced
  • Ensure that gain/loss on assets is correctly recorded
  • Post, review and file of recurring and non-recurring journal entries
  • Post, review and file month end accruals
  • Set up new loans and capital leases in Jonas
  • Maintain loan and capital lease amortization schedules
  • Reconcile loans and capital leases monthly
  • Review under billings
  • Post monthly depreciation entry
  • Run monthly equipment report and charge costs to jobs
  • Monthly cash flow by job report
  • Run job cost reports as required
    Review costs on closed jobs
  • Close jobs and prepare job completion report


  • Excellent time management, organization and tracking skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Able to work in a team as well as independently
  • Comfortable to adapt to new technology
  • Tech savvy


  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting
  • Working towards CPA
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in Construction Industry is an asset
  • Working experience with Jonas is an asset
