Position Overview                               

As a key member of the Sales team, the Associate Director of Sales will assume a strategic role in the profitable sales growth of the company. The Associate Director of Sales will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and tracking sales-related activities of the company within the assigned channels. This encompasses direct responsibility for the entire sales continuum including lead generation, relationship building, broker management, monitoring trade spend, formulating and tracking sales metrics (e.g., ROI), informing sales forecasts, and the continued hiring and development of the sales team. Ideal candidates will have exceptional communication, presentation, organizational, and quantitative skills.

Essential Functions

  • Build relationships with and profitably expand sales to existing accounts. Accounts may include, but not be limited to, Grocery, Mass, and other channels.
  • Manage relationships with brokers that work in conjunction with customer accounts
  • Assist in development and implementation of the sales strategy for assigned channels
  • Prepare and deliver on sales forecasts and budgets including, but not limited to, planned volume, planned distribution, and spending targets
  • Manage regional business managers and sales associates in assigned channels and ensure their activities are contributing to the development of the overall sales team
  • Leverage customer and consumer insights to provide feedback to management on product concepts, pricing, and promotional activities
  • Execute all agreed to solutions with customers to include accurate, timely forecasting and detailed follow through
  • Generate new sales leads and develop strategic plans for new accounts
  • Monitor and import the progress of current and prospective sales activities
  • Negotiate mutually agreeable terms with retail outlets and distributors
  • Monitor and summarize industry trend reports and competitor analyses
  • Create and leverage presentation and promotional materials as appropriate to facilitate product sales
  • Attend exhibitions and company meetings as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Functional competencies include: selling, negotiating, financial management, leveraging insights, listening, time management, and personnel management
  • 7+ years of CPG sales experience, preferably with experience in the food sector
  • Experience managing others (both directly and indirectly)
  • Degree from a 4-year institution; business focus preferred
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
  • Ability to travel up to 70 percent of the time
