Position Overview

As a full time member of the accounting team, the Accounting Intern will be responsible for assisting and supporting various accounting functions.  In addition to accounting responsibilities, the Intern will provide support to the Human Resources team in responsibilities related to payroll, benefits invoicing, journal entries, and excel organization.  The Intern will have primary day-to-day responsibilities including building excel models, helping to establish a digital filing system, assisting with accounts payable and receivables, preparing invoices for payment, maintaining vendor records, and assisting with payroll.  The ideal candidate will have excellent Microsoft Excel skills, superb organization and communication skills, attention to detail, and have the ability to think critically and analytically.

Essential Functions

  • Assists with the building and implementation of excel models as it pertains to cost management, vendor maintenance, broker and commissions management, and other applicable projects
  • Develops and integrates a digital filing system to help organize existing vendor contracts
  • Assisting in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, processing invoices, credit card payments, collections, and preparing payments
  • Actively working in conjunction with both Human Resources and Accounting to process payroll, including but not limited to expense reimbursement, data entry, and journal entries
  • Prepares benefit invoicing for processing
  • Helps to establish a digital management system for all administrative aspects of healthcare enrollment
  • Supports broker management, commission calculations, and invoice processing
  • Supports additional HR operations, including event planning, data entry, and general house-keeping duties
  • Work Safety – Ensures that all tasks and functions of position are performed in a safe manner at all times and that all procedures and requirements are properly followed to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Food Safety/Quality – Responsible for food safety and quality as well as reporting food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action
  • Other duties as assigned                                                

Requirements

  • Pursuit of a BA/BS degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel skills required; advanced knowledge is preferred
  • Must be coachable and open to guidance and criticism
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail and well-organized
  • Ability to work well in both individual and team settings
