Position Overview                        

As a key member of the Retail Team, the Assistant Manager will assume a strategic role in maintaining a major component of the business while creating the customer experience of the iconic Milk Shake Factory. The Assistant Manager will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and tracking all retail activities at the store. This encompasses leveraging customer insights to drive sales, implementing seasonal campaigns, managing the retail team, identifying opportunities for improvement, and creating a safe and clean environment. Ideal candidates will have excellent team building, communication, planning, marketing, and organizational skills.


Essential Functions

  • Takes ownership of the front- and back-house store operations, merchandising, workflows, sanitation, organization and customer experience
  • Aids in the creation of systems for achieving store-wide operational excellence with regards to cash management, food safety, inventory control, and employee performance
  • Supports MSF human resources functions including staff training, coaching, motivating, feedback, and retention to ensure all team members have the tools to succeed
  • In conjunction with the Manager, schedule and staff adequately the retail store to ensure retail operations function smoothly while keeping labor costs in line with the retail budget
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure the MSF environment exceeds regulatory health and safety standards
  • Leverage consumer insights and data sources to contribute to the creation of annual and seasonal marketing campaigns that resonate with customers
  • Work with the Manager to ensure that all security cameras, alarms, locks, and security protocols are functioning and documented on a regular basis
  • Compose succinct reports on retail performance for review with the Manager
  • Act as a brand advocate to consumers and employees by communicating the company story, history, vision, and products including those for corporate accounts and special events
  • Ensure that all POS register systems are operational at all times



  • Demonstrated leadership ability with at least 3 years of experience in a customer-facing sales setting
  • Strong track record of creating an amazing customer experience while managing successful retail or restaurant teams, brands, operations and financials
  • Availability to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • Composure, positivity, flexibility, and time management ability necessary to succeed in a performance-driven retail environment
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, operational, problem-solving, organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to lift and/or handle packaged goods and materials up to and including 25lbs
