Position Overview                               

As a member of the Information Technology Team, the IT Intern will assume a critical role in supporting the technology infrastructure for all of the company’s users and facilities. The IT Intern will have primary day-to-day responsibility for providing user support, including troubleshooting of computers, phones, and hardware, tracking assets, vendor management, and supporting larger scale projects.  Ideal candidates will be process-oriented and have superior technical, communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.  This position has the possibility of being transitioned into an entry level full time position at the conclusion of the internship in August.

Essential Functions

  • Install and configure computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, fax machines, VoIP phones, scanners, etc. across multiple locations
  • Interact with employees on all levels to quickly resolve IT-related issues
  • Responsible for support of remote employees and managing issues across multiple facilities
  • Maintain and secure passwords, file system security, and data integrity for desktop environments
  • Involvement in vendor relations and ordering of equipment and supplies
  • Assists with hardware upgrades (upgrading ram, faceplate changes on phones, etc.)
  • Helps to audit existing infrastructure to ensure optimal equipment and processes are being employed
  • Make recommendations for new equipment and services to purchase and work with various vendors for procurement
  • Work Safety – Ensures that all tasks and functions of position are performed in a safe manner at all times and that all procedures and requirements are properly followed to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Food Safety/Quality – Responsible for food safety and quality as well as reporting food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to explain in laymen’s terms the use of computer related technologies while working in conjunction with different departments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Engineering, or Business preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of telecommunications, network, PC, and Mac operating systems
  • Capacity to operate independently and towards a goal
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and maintain a calm disposition
