Position:  K-5th Grade Elementary Teacher

Location:  Centennial Academy; Atlanta, GA

Job Type:  Full Time

Supervisor: Assistant Head of School

 

The Centennial Academy Educator will utilize current strategies and theories to plan, organize and implement instruction for Centennial Academy students through a Project-Based Inquiry Learning environment steeped in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) instruction. The Elementary Teacher is responsible for the daily instructional delivery of curriculum, assessment, and classroom management that aligns with the school’s vision, mission, and values while also meeting state and national academic standards. The role will be responsible to understand and demonstrate the importance of effective communication with students, school personnel, and parents. In addition, the Teacher will have extensive minutes per day of personal planning, common planning, data analysis, and professional development and coaching. Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Education
  • Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
  • Minimum of three to five years’ of exemplary teaching experience in the classroom
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of students
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Gifted Endorsed preferred

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement student instruction and assessment in K-5 Elementary to achieve K-5 Elementary curriculum objectives
  • Analyze formal and informal data on student achievement in K-5 Elementary in order to inform instructional planning
  • Identify and select appropriate K-5 Elementary instructional materials aligned to content standards and assists classroom teachers in doing the same
  • Implement relevant information from research and professional literature on best practices in K-5 Elementary instruction
  • Implement relevant information from research and professional literature on best practices in instruction
  • Mentor and support scholars’ development of academic, social, and emotional health, while coaching around goal setting for readiness upon graduation
  • Accurately complete student data assessment analysis and provide informative reports
  • Understand and apply effective strategies for intervention and differentiation in the classroom
  • Develop appropriate and healthy relationships with students, including advocating for them and celebrating their success
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to maintain strong classroom management and hold students accountable for upholding school rules, collaboratively-developed norms, and classroom expectations
  • Knowledge and demonstration of using innovative skills in instruction (analytical thinking, problem solving, communicating, collaborating, and finding and evaluating information)
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to utilize technology for communication and instruction to work with parents, students, and other service agencies
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision while prioritizing workload
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency through prioritizing and following through on commitments
  • Possess a clear and effective pedagogy that embodies the belief that instruction must be engaging, relevant, rigorous, and provide real world opportunities for scholars to live their learning
  • Ability to maintain strong classroom management and hold scholars accountable for upholding school rules, collaboratively-developed norms, and classroom expectations
  • Evidence of ongoing professional learning and reflective practice to continuously improve student and adult learning
  • Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects including proven track record of high achievement in the classroom
  • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
  • Working knowledge of proactive communication with colleagues about scholar needs to ensure integrated support
  • Proficient use of the computer
  • Maintain confidentiality
