One-Year Compensation Coordinator

Earthjustice’s Human Resources team is seeking a One-Year Compensation Coordinator to provide essential support to ensure our 600-person organization’s compensation is competitive and equitable. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Compensation & Metrics. The Compensation Coordinator will support the Director’s day-to-day work, including during the upcoming comprehensive compensation review process, which will require highlighting key findings and next steps from meetings, checking for consistency within job descriptions, archiving and filing documentation, and sending out communications to staff about market and promotional adjustments.  
 
This is a 12-month, full-time (37.5 hours/week) role with an anticipated start date in mid-November 2024. The successful candidate may work remotely or a hybrid in-person/remote schedule from one of our regional offices. Preference will be given to those who can work Central or Mountain Time.  

Responsibilities:
 
Compensation Projects Support (75%)
  • Participates in leveling review meetings, compiles notes, and highlights findings and next steps to be used for presentations.
  • Share relevant data and information with managers and our consulting compensations vendor.
  • Document changes based on results of the review.
  • Research market data. 
General Administrative Support (20%)
  • Drafts and sends out letters to managers about market and promotional adjustments.
  • Oversee the central folder of all job descriptions and ensure they are current.
  • Convert job descriptions into a new template format.
  • Support in providing guidance to other members of the HR team on compensation queries.
  • Support communication efforts to the organization about compensation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Professional Development (5%)
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations and conferences.
  • Participate in trainings, webinars, affinity groups, and conversations to continuously deepen understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
Qualifications:  
  • Minimum 2-3 years of compensation experience.  
  • Passion for Earthjustice’s mission.
  • Advanced skills using MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint; calendaring within Outlook; file management within SharePoint; and utilizing pivot tables, macros, and functions within Excel.  
  • Familiarity with California Wage & Hour Laws and federal compensation laws and regulations.
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization is a plus.
  • Experience working with an HR System, such as ADP, is a plus.
  • Highly reliable and able to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills. 
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including presenting information to top management.  
  • Ability to work as a team and independently with little supervision.  
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask with a strong attention to detail.  
  • Ability to work effectively with highly sensitive and confidential information with sound judgement and discretion.
  • Demonstrates an awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds and orientations.  
  • Contributes to the creation of a diverse, equitable and inclusive work culture that encourages and celebrates differences.

Salaries at Earthjustice are determined by experience level and working location. The annual salary ranges are: 
  • Salary for New York, NY and San Francisco, CA: $79,300 - $88,100
  • Salary for Chicago, IL; Honolulu, HI; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; and Washington, D.C.: $75,300 - $83,700
  • Salary for Anchorage & Junea, AK; Denver, CO; and Philadelphia, PA: $71,400 – $79,300
  • Salary for Bozeman, MT; Houston, TX; and Miami & Tallahassee, FL: $67,400 - $74,900
  • Salary for Remote (US): varies by location
