Are YOU our next Mobile Collections Coordinator?
As a Mobile Collections Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Mobile Collections Program which includes the coaching of staff, workflow, and client services. You will also perform the duties of a Laboratory Assistant including obtaining blood samples and other specimens from patients for diagnostic testing. This is a permanent full-time position on day shift.

How YOU will make a difference:
Administration
- Coordinate the BC Operations Mobile Collections Program
- Sort and process patient requisitions received from physician’s offices for the Central Okanagan region
- Organize and maintain daily scheduling of collection services
- Planning of route according to required travel time and specimen integrity
- Communicate with patients, caregivers, or long-term care facilities regarding collection service requirements
- Communicate with co-workers and other departments, clinics and physicians when troubleshooting problem samples
- Provide training and guidance for Mobile Collections Program; train and orientate students and new employees as required
- Develop and maintain SOP’s relating to Mobile Collections
Specimen Collections
- Visit nursing homes, retirement homes and private home visits to perform venipuncture collections.
- Collect blood samples by venipuncture or by micro method using approved procedures
- Collect various other specimens from patients following specified guidelines
- Responsible for transporting and processing all samples and specimens following company and government regulations
- Packaging specimens for delivery according to company guidelines
- Sorting the specimens including spinning the blood, pouring-off urine and separating the specimens into different categories
- Confirm specimen labeling is complete and accurate
- Data enter and verify the completeness of all patient demographics and requisitions that are provincial and non- provincial
- Routine disinfecting of work area and equipment is to be completed on a scheduled basis
- Responsible to follow all relevant pre and/or post analytical QA protocols as described in the company QA manual
- Ensure supplies are properly ordered and maintained and stock has not exceeded expiry date
- Responsible to protect their Health and Safety by reporting hazards and working in compliance with standard Safe Working Practices
- Ensure patient safety and dignity at all times
- Maintain documentation of work-related mileage, as required, and follow Driving & Use of Company Vehicles
- Other tasks and duties as required.

What YOU bring to the role:
- Knowledge, educational requirements and relative experience required to perform the job
- Certification or degree required: Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant, LPN or RN
- Previous venipuncture experience required: 2 years of experience
- Nursing Home experience an asset
- A Valid driver’s license and clean abstract required
- Certified Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check required
- TDG Certification
Working Conditions
- Describe physical and environmental demands
- Medical laboratory environment
- Mobile Collections: nursing homes, retirement homes, private homes and other facilities as required
- May be required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds and transport specimen bags, supplies, waste from different locations
- Carry items up and down stairs, and in and out of buildings
- Driving in city and on the highway, in all weather conditions
- Movement in and out of vehicle
- Repetitive movements with frequent computer use
- At times might require frequent standing, sitting, bending, etc.
- Ability to travel to and between regions on a regular basis
Starting at $24.25/hourly plus Mobile Collection Premium $2.00 per hour
The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
