Paralegal - Business Immigration

This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine is looking for an experienced Paralegal to join our Immigration group in Seattle.

This position is responsible for performing paralegal work supporting the firm’s Immigration group; must have in-depth knowledge and experience with broad range of business immigration filings; must be highly skilled in technology, detail-orientated, exercise sound judgment and possess strong administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills while prioritizing and managing multiple assignments.

In this role, you will:

  • Draft forms and letters for visa applications and petitions, applications for permanent residence, labor certification applications, and other immigrant and non-immigrant related filings
  • Communicate with clients on matters associated with immigration filings
  • Gather appropriate evidence to support immigration filings
  • Conduct quality assurance review of immigration filings
  • Maintain computer databases and monitor reports related to caseload management of immigration matters
  • Assemble application and petition packages and files with USCIS or other appropriate agency
  • Monitor immigration related publications and web sites for news and trends, and communicate findings to the practice group keeping important items in electronic files
  • Conduct research via internet and hard copy sources of information, keeping important items in electronic files
  • Assist in Form I-9 compliance audits
  • Assist in the training of new team members
  • Draft client advisories related to significant developments in immigration law and practice
  • Provide general assistance to department attorneys
  • Accurately and completely record billable time spent and tasks performed in accordance with firm policy and client-imposed billing protocols; enter and release time promptly in compliance with the firm’s announced deadlines
  • Accurately and promptly submit records of hours worked in compliance with the firm’s established deadlines

Join us if you have:

  • Must have 4 years of experience supporting business immigration attorneys as a paralegal
  • College degree or completion of a paralegal program preferred
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of the basic business non-immigrant visas (H-1B, L-1, E, H-2, TN, B-1, O-1, and P) and employment based immigrant visa processes (EB-1 extraordinary ability, outstanding professor/researcher, multinational manager; EB-2 NIW; EB-2 and EB-3 PERM, and I-485 filings)
  • Experience with the following is required: DOL online application systems (PERM and FLAG); DS-160 online visa applications; and consular processing of immigrant petitions through NVC
  • Experience working on Form I-9 compliance and audit matters preferred
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft business applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and PDF editing is essential
  • Must have 1 year of experience using INSZoom immigration case management software
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred
  • Must have highly developed skills in time and task management with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent requests with minimal supervision
  • Must be detail-oriented and work with an extremely high degree of accuracy
  • Must have excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, composed manner
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, service environment
  • Flexibility to work overtime if necessary
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with lawyers, clients and office personnel
