Process Engineer - CNC Milling
- Develop and support milling and machining processes that meet customer specifications and timing for new and existing products as well as meet customer cost targets.
- Work with DURA plant personnel and cross functional teams, to ensure flawless launch of such processes for new contracts awarded
- Manage suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of milling and machining equipment and tooling. Ensure all aspects of the assembly process, including the design, construction, production, assembly, trials, qualification and maintenance plans, meet specifications. As well as provide updates and status reports on the equipment to program leaders and management teams.
- Accurately estimate machining cycle times, tool selection, and judge feasibility to customer requirements.
- Participates in DFM activities and discussion to improve product designs and manufacturing methods that support more robust processes and improved quality.
- Review product GD&T and process simulations to determine manufacturing feasibility.
- Execution and maintain the PFMEA’s
- Support product change requests for new and existing products by developing process and cost and validating feasibility
- Develop Procedure Specifications and Setup instructions to document and support critical processes.
- Participates and support the quotation process, estimating cost, equipment and manufacturing layouts needed for new product launches and/or engineering changes to ensure profitability and plans and schedules appropriate timetables to meet production deadlines.
- Solicits, analyzes and negotiates quotes on capital equipment, as assigned to ensure cost effectiveness
- Identify any destructive or mechanical testing that will need to be done prior to production launch.
- Leads the resolution of manufacturing process problems and customer concerns to promote continuous improvement of production efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Lead continuous improvement activities including parameter improvement exercises, efficient design of joints, training activities, etc. Participate in various other lean events.
- Assist in the development of equipment and tooling standards.
- Assist in the identification and development of new equipment and tooling sources.
- Assist in the development of internal process and procedures to facilitate APQP requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the Process Engineering Manager or Supervisor.
- Willingness for regular global traveling
- CNC Programing with Siemens is a plus
