Group Creative Director - U.S. ARMY

Our creative department is seeking a Group Creative Director to join us on a full-time basis. This person will work on the U.S. Army account. 



  • Looks beyond the commonly accepted approach and seeks opportunities and innovative approaches to create ideas which are on brief
  • Challenges clients / internal teams when appropriate in order to raise the agency’s creative offering
  • Works with planning and business management developing business and creative solutions and providing insight and challenging the brief as appropriate.
  • Generates and develops concepts and ideas which meet the requirements of the brief, meet client branding standards and are of a consistently high standard
  • Identifies opportunities to produce breakthrough work that has the potential to win creative awards
  • Is responsible for the total creative output of the group – its quality of ideas, strategic thinking, production, writing, art direction, timeliness and effectiveness


  • Is responsible for the creative overview of work, leading and advising teams and reviewing work as required
  • Leads client presentations or pitches
  • Takes advantage of and coordinates available resources to complete work efficiently
  • Takes initiative to make appropriate decisions and uses good judgment
  • Is maniacal about flawless execution making sure all work is done to agreed deadlines and within budget

Knowledge and Skills

  • Is strategically smart, production savvy, able to present the group’s work, take a stand on every creative aspect of the creative product, and be able to work under tight deadlines
  • Explains supporting rationale for all work in a compelling and convincing manner
  • Delivers integrated ideas and works effectively with integrated team members
  • Works with the Creative Director seeking guidance on any key creative issues
  • Has the ability to identify and sell great work
  • Has knowledge and experience in of all communication disciplines and is able to communicate with client and team
  • Recognizes and handles difficult situations with confidence

  • Works across all agency departments and harnesses skills and energy to deliver effective and creative solutions
  • Provide proactive contribution to clients’ businesses, demonstrating best-in-class integrated product solutions (innovation and quality)

  • Generates respect and builds effective relationships at all levels internally and develops solid and trusting relationships with senior clients
  • Uses strong verbal written skills to effectively communicate internally and with clients
  • Creates a positive relationship with clients and be a creative leader to agency partners

  • Spreads expertise, passion and innovation throughout the team and creative department
  • Contributes to the overall office morale, spirit, character and work quality
  • Leads by example when working with other staff members showing initiative and in demonstrating commitment
  • Attracts, develops and retains top creative talent through careful career management and mentorship, giving them opportunities and room to grow and provide regular feedback
  • Provides a senior level of support and advice to more junior Art Directors / Copywriters on creative work and offers guidance and technical expertise


  • Undergraduate degree in an associated field
  • 15+ years in progressive creative roles in an advertising agency including extensive experience managing diverse teams
  • Strong management experience with a track record with major and multiple client relationships and campaigns, financial expertise, and continuous improvement
  • Experience across all communications channels and business categories
  • Proven competencies in managing complex teams, projects, campaigns and client relationships
  • A solid reputation within the advertising community for both managerial and creative leadership
  • Reputation for being able to deal with others with tact and good judgment
