Job Title: HR Generalist 1

Job Summary: The HR Generalist 1 assists the HR department in staffing/recruiting, employee onboarding and orientation, benefits administration, training coordination responsibilities, HRIS database maintenance, and other HR support duties as assigned. This is a Full-Time, Non-Exempt position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides customer service and human resources support to approximately 170 employees
  • Administers benefits programs: Processes employee enrollment/change forms monthly and facilitates open enrollment, provide benefits orientation to all new employees
  • Administers and coordinates staffing activities: requisition process, internal and external job postings, pre-screening of candidates, scheduling of interviews, administering pre-employment screening, scheduling and facilitating orientation sessions, maintaining AAP records, participates and coordinates job fair activities, conducts all employee onboarding
  • Maintains HRIS database: data entry of employee information, changes and terminations, partnering with payroll and finance department to ensure smooth payroll process and to resolve payroll issues.
  • Administers and audits monthly HR invoicing to include benefit provider invoices, pre-employment screening and various other payroll audits
  • Maintains records, reports, logs pertaining to applicant and employee records. Provides reports to support Affirmative Action documentation
  • Maintains and supports all training coordination, including record keeping and scheduling trainings
  • Administers employee programs, to include: facility bulletin boards, recognition programs, employee communication memos, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel is preferred
  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills; responds to requests with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to respond favorably to a changing environment
  • Excellent process and problem solving skills
  • Effective, logical and organized communication skills, including verbal, written and listening skills

Education/Experience: 

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • College degree in HR or related field
  • Two years experience in human resources or related field
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook    
  • Experience with ADP a plus

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

  • Use of computer keyboard and mouse, and multi-line phone
  • Primarily shared office environment
  • May be required to enter the machine shop environment at times throughout the work day; this environment may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and vapor from coolant, etc.
  • Possible skin and inhaled contact with various sealants, paints, adhesives, and other chemicals may occur
