Position Overview:

The Business Analyst – DataOps is responsible for the development of requirements, business processes, and documentation in support of DataOps, including data warehousing, ETL, analysis, quality, and governance services.  The Business Analyst helps internal customers understand data tools and assets along with assisting to define business processes and requirements.  This role works closely with internal business partners, data engineering, data stewards, software applications and analytics teams to improve accessibility, trustworthiness, compliance, and collaboration across data services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Consult with internal customers to understand business needs and opportunities to be converted to technical requirements for developers.
  • Develop and document current and improved-state business processes.
  • Support roll-out and maintenance of data governance and curated catalog services, including business glossaries, business rules, metadata libraries, etc.
  • Support roll-out of data security, privacy, and compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in projects and troubleshooting to improve various aspects of data quality (uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, completeness, etc.).
  • Coach business users in support of DataOps services and best practices.
  • Represent DataOps in corporate wide projects.
  • Support periodic audits and monitoring to ensure that data workflows and related business processes are running as expected.
  • Present and communicate effectively across internal teams.
  • Work on agile or waterfall teams as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information or a related field, or equivalent combination of education / experience.
  • General business analyst experience in a technology environment (process mapping, requirements gathering, work planning, brainstorming, etc.).
  • Experience running meetings and facilitating projects.
  • Experience in data management (warehousing, governance, analytics, etc.).
  • Experience with financial services a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
