Position at Coastal Pacific Food Distributors

Provides field representation to the US NAVY ships and the associated support locations, and manufacturing/broker vendors on behalf of Coastal Pacific.  Observes and researches issues regarding the level of service and deliveries at the bases.  Works closely with receivers, ships personnel to identify and address issues that occur at the pier or ship level involving the ordering and receiving process.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Field oversight of the PV Seattle Ships contract.

  2. Conduct & document regular site visits to the ordering activities (US Military installations and ships)

  3. Interface & build relationships with DLA TS Representatives, FLC, VET & NAVY personnel. 

  4. Help foster and provide a strong communications link between NAVY Ships, the FLC and CPFD key personnel such as Customer Service, Purchasing, Operations, Transportation, etc.

  5. Continuously promote and familiarize customers with products and services. 

  6. Track & report all upcoming sales intelligence to PV purchasing & management.

  7. Obtain and report information to the PV Director and the Fife and other CPFD management members with regards to excessive shorts/damages; poor pallet stacking or trailer loading, date code or temperature issues when those issues might be imminently escalated within the customer’s chain of command.

  8. Reporting of results to the CPFD Management Team.

  9. Educate customers of ordering timelines, processes, etc.

  10. Coordinate with CPFD Transportation Dispatch and/or Warehouse Operations to address daily issues, as well as serve as field agent for the PV division.

  11. Help sell thru overstocked or closer dated inventory as requested.

  12. Verifies shortages or overages during the counting of pallets as well as damages called, to include verifiable characteristics such as code dates, weights, and condition of perishable items; make sure deliveries are satisfactory and move into the custody of the customer.

  13. Help, and if requested, give additional training to new truck drivers about delivery process as well as serve to further expedite the time spent during delivery location to stay on schedule.

  14. Negotiates resolution of customer complaints by redelivering merchandise, granting credit or other action satisfactory to customer.

  15. Record and respond to issues of concern that occur from a day to day basis as well as create a report of issues of importance that occur that is submitted weekly.

  16. Assist with product recalls when they occur to help ensure complete coverage.

  17. Always represent CPFD in an ethical, courteous & professional manner.

  18. Makes decisions on prudent use of company expenses; tally’s and completes required expense reports for travel costs incurred

  19. Compliance with all CPFD policies, procedures, programs and ethics compliance.

  20. Attend Meetings as requested, cross training with in-house CSR.

  21. Other duties as may be assigned. 

Required Qualifications:

    Education.  Position requires High school education or equivalent work experience.  Some college education with proficiency in written communications and basic mathematics is preferred.

    Experience.  Position requires at least five years foodservice or US Military experience. Logistics or sales experience are a plus.

    Knowledge.  Basic inventory control and/or warehouse operations knowledge would be beneficial along with some knowledge of food service operations and standards. Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products:  Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

    Skills & Abilities.  Demonstrated ability to persuade and influence others, resolve problems as they occur, and achieve by working in partnership with others. Must have a professional presence, effective oral and excellent written communication abilities, as well as interpersonal skills to work as part of a team.  Position requires the ability to interact professionally with CPFD Management & Associates, the US Military and DOD Civilian.  Ability to work under pressure with multiple customer calls and issues occurring simultaneously.  Must be available to address urgent problems from customers which may not occur during normal working hours.  A safe driving record exhibited by a current DMV report plus proof of auto insurance coverage is also required.  Ability to pass the requirements needed for base pass access.
