Pay Rate + Incentive Pay:   

  • PM Shift
    • Dry/Chill $23.65 per hour + incentive up to $7.00 per hour

    Order Selectors are eligible to receive incentive pay up to $7.00 per hour.  Incentive pay is determined by total weekly performance.

    Position Summary:

    Select and palletize product using the Voice Collect Picking system accurately within that standard amount of time set while operating safely.   This position has a high demand for accuracy, safety, speed and sanitation while meeting production standards of 95% with an accuracy rate of more than 98%. Freezer temperature conditions range from (-8) to (-10) degrees Fahrenheit. Order selection (“pick”) slots are at ground level in addition to flow rack areas that are appx 5’10’’ high.  Warehouse slots are appx  42” deep to 44” deep 

    This is a UNION position.  Membership with Teamsters will be REQUIRED

    Duties:   

    • Efficient and safe use of motorized double pallet jack which weighs appx 4500 lbs and has no power steering when at rest.
    • Select product single unit and cases up to 60-pounds using computerized Voice Collect System;  Must be able to pull, lift and maneuver bulky boxes like turkeys and hams.
    • Stack product onto wooden and plastic pallets.
    • Pallet wrapping with shrink wrap to secure boxes in transport.
    • Stage pallets of product in designated areas.
    • Retrieve product from shelves.
    • May require the use of other large equipment (when appropriately trained & certified).
    • Responsible for the housekeeping/sanitation of working areas – Sweeping, dusting, picking up debris and bending into the rack to do it; scraping ice if product cartons have leaked and frozen.
    • Basic equipment maintenance functions:  Plugging and unplugging battery charger cables to charging stations.
    • If order selection reach lift trained or assigned to a position in the freezer or chill departments, would be required to use a body harness with other PPE freezer clothing and be tethering for case selection at higher levels.
    • Lifting, moving & maneuvering appx 45 lb. empty wood pallets off pallet stacks onto equipment.
    • Re-sort, palletize, clean up & throw away boxes that have been accidentally dropped or damaged.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Job Requirement:
       

     
    Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent
    Experience: Six months verifiable grocery order selecting experience or equivalent heavy lifting experience.
    Knowledge: Basic reading, writing, math knowledge in order to identify merchandise product by UPC code in the warehouse and count quantities, verify code dates and communicate with shipping clerks, receiving clerks and inventory control.
    Skills and Abilities: Must have good motor skills, spatial skills and cognitive ability in order to move efficiently and safely throughout the warehouse.  Some computer skills in order to operate voice collect system and electronic controlsMust be detail oriented and conscientious to ensure that merchandise is selected accurately and palletized properly. Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with others (stockers, loaders, receivers, etc).     
      
    Must be able to bend, reach, lift, pull, push, grasp, and maneuver efficiently in bulky freezer PPE (personal protective equipment freezer wear & gloves) if assignment is in the freezer or chill departments; Upper body strength required to use the pallet jack steering mechanism (appx 10 lbs. of pull and 10 lbs. of pressure to push).
