Job Summary

Senior level position handling more advanced tasks for Landman review and approval. Requires professionalism and independent accountability including some supervisory, training and work coordination responsibilities. Requires broad understanding of oil and gas, legal and land related matters.


  • Assist Landmen with procedures and preparation of land related reports, spreadsheets, research, well set-up, lease purchase reports, exhibit preparation, partner communication, title opinion review and ownership determination, leasing and pooling coordination, standard letter agreements, assignments, deeds, operating agreements and other land related documents.
  • Coordinate activities and reports of various company disciplines to identify process or information gaps and make recommendations to remedy the issues.
  • Review and correct data base information to insure proper reporting to other departments.
  • Insure that processes are in place to inform the Landmen about time sensitive matters such as contract deadlines and regulatory hearing schedules.
  • Research complicated contract, lease, title and land owner issues and be prepared to support the land department with recommendations regarding such matters.
  • Perform various calculations using addition, multiplication and division requiring understanding and ease working with fractions, proportions and percentages.
  • Provide attorneys with information needed to make applications for getting regulatory approvals and prepare title opinions.
  • Prepares required curative materials and related correspondence to be sent to applicable parties and performs follow-up work to secure curative.
  • Provide lease records, accounting and division order departments information on ownership, contract provisions and other data to ensure they can properly set up and maintain property and well ownership interests.
  • May provide guidance and assist in the training of more junior Land Techs.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral

  • High school diploma or general education degree, college degree preferred
  • At least ten (10) years of land tech experience from an active oil and gas exploration company
  • Notary Public preferred
  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test
