Manager of Financial Reporting

Job Summary

Responsible for managing a broad range of financial reporting and accounting activities, including technical accounting research, account analysis, and various activities that support the preparation of internal and publicly-filed financial statements.

Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Manage the preparation and review of monthly internal financial statements used by senior management
  • Manage the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Analyze and validate financial statement figures and underlying accounting records to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information presented, including compliance with disclosure requirements
  • Research and analyze guidance on complex or judgmental accounting issues and prepare technical memos to support conclusions reached
  • Monitor proposed changes in accounting principles and assist with review and implementation of new accounting standards
  • Oversee a variety of accounting functions, including those pertaining to hedging activities and stock-based compensation
  • Manage the preparation and review of XBRL data in publicly-filed financial statements for accuracy and appropriateness of tag selection
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and related financial reporting and disclosure requirements
  • Strong knowledge of SEC filing processes
  • Ability to research technical accounting issues and develop written policies based upon such research
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize projects in order to meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) accreditation is preferred
  • 7 or more years of relevant experience, preferably with a mix of public accounting and oil and gas industry experience
  • SEC filing experience required
  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test
