Job Summary

Develop and lead a team that will provide deep, forward-looking analytical insight and understanding of the crude oil and natural gas markets based on a detailed knowledge of the sectors’ dynamics and drivers. This will be accomplished by:

  • Developing and/or acquiring commodity econometric models
  • Closely monitoring third-party research to augment internal efforts to create a deeper insight into world and U.S. critical factors.
  • Interpreting model results and formulating recommendations to senior management, and other teams, that will provide the basis for core, strategic business decisions

 

Duties/Responsibilities  

  • Build and lead a highly technical, experienced team that can both create organic commodity models and utilize existing third-party research
  • Thoroughly understands the fundamentals and underlying dynamics of energy commodities as well as ongoing and anticipated trends and interprets results for communication to senior management
  • Develops and articulates a strong forward-looking point of view across all energy commodities
  • Understands the impact of market changes and fundamentals on the Company and can translate into actionable business plans
  • Teams with internal stakeholders to provide deeper insights and market-based perspectives
  • Confident in understanding commodity drivers, trends and their impacts at strategic and tactical levels
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop employees

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field
  • MBA or similar post-graduate degrees desired
  • Ten (10) plus years’ experience covering energy markets in a research capacity
  • Experienced leader and able to build teams
  • Deep knowledge of the oil and gas sector
  • Credible as a recognized authority in the external community
  • Proven ability working at a senior level in a fast-moving, rapidly-changing environment
  • Confident to build a network of internal and external contacts to help shape point of view
  • Takes ownership for delivering customized projects with a high degree of autonomy
  • Manages multiple, highly complex projects simultaneously
  • Outstanding presentation skills
  • Succinct and structured oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
