Continental’s Business Development Group works on highly visible, strategic initiatives which include acquisitions, mergers, capital investment programs and divestitures across all of Continental’s business units. The Corporate / Business Development Analyst reports to the Supervisor of Business Development, who reports to the Head of Business Development.  The Business Development group originates, evaluates and executes growth initiatives through acquisitions, mergers, capital investment programs and other strategic initiatives.  The ideal candidate will possess a high level of professionalism and maturity.  This person should be extremely motivated, able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, and can work independently as well as part of a team.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Create operational and financial models to support senior management decision process regarding strategic growth initiatives
  • Prepare internal management and board of directors reports and presentations
  • Conduct research to identify acquisition opportunities, emerging market trends and changes in the competitive landscape
  • Monitor and summarize developments and performance of competitors
  • Present findings and make recommendations related to potential acquisition targets and other opportunities for investment
  • Build and maintain database of transaction and operational metrics
  • Willingness to travel on short notice, work evenings and occasional weekends

 

Skills

  • Advanced user of MS Excel, Power Point and Word; familiarity with MS Access, ARIES and/or SpotFire a plus
  • Proven team player
  • Superior written and verbal communication with the ability to concisely summarize key findings and articulate prioritized views to senior management
  • Strong quantitative abilities, acute business judgment and creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple objectives
  • Self-motivated with an understanding of urgency to complete projects in a timely manner
Qualifications
  •  Minimum of 2 years’ experience in corporate / business development, investment banking, private equity, business strategy or consulting
  • Experience building complex operating and / or financial models
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Engineering from a leading academic institution with a record of top-tier academic performance required; Graduate degree is a plus
