Job Summary

The IT Analyst position is an IT professional whose focus of analysis and problem solving relates to data, types of data, and relationships of data within both IT and business systems. This function includes conducting the full lifecycle of analysis: requirements gathering, detail design specifications, and Quality Assurance. The position will be focusing on, but not limited to, our GIS, integration, and application development areas.


  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to identify, analyze, and implement an GIS related technology solutions
  • Work with systems analysts, business analysts, and integration developers to help identify, analyze, and design integration solutions between business and our GIS system
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and work with business stakeholders to remediate data quality issues
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Provide administrative support and training on GIS related technology solutions including administering GIS servers and workstations, troubleshooting system software and programs, and administer system access and security
  • Work closely with development team to prototype, test, and validate the functionality of developed map layers and/or applications
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, document, and work with development team to remediate issues
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

  • Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
  • Strong knowledge of Geospatial technologies (ESRI ArcMap, ESRI Portal, FME, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with databases (SQL, Oracle, etc.) is required with preferred experience with integration technologies (FME, Mulesoft, SSIS, etc.)
  • Proficient at database queries and presenting findings
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques are preferred
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets are preferred (Excel, SPSS, SAS, R Scripting, Python, etc.)


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related field from an accredited College or University.
  • At least five (5) years of recent related experience working in an analyst and support role.
  • Solid understanding of GIS principles such as coordinate systems, spatial relationships, and data sources.
  • Experience using ArcGIS: ArcGIS Server, ArcPortal, ArcSDE database, ArcDesktop.
  • Must have either knowledge of relational database management systems, SQL or Oracle
  • Preferred experience with business solutions common in the Oil and Gas Industry, such as:  Procount / eVIN / Carte, Peloton Wellview, Aries, OFM, SAP ECC and PRA, Allegro.
  • Experience with large, complex initiatives, working with an in-house development team or commercial off the shelf application implementations and software vendors.
  • Project management and business analyst experience.
  • Aptitude to learn new concepts and technologies quickly and with minimal direction.
