Job Summary

This position provides support to Oil Marketing management and staff performing a broad range of routine and regular monthly financial reports as well as financial and economic analysis of on-going operations, and also ad hoc reporting at the request of the trading and executive positions in Oil Marketing. Analytical thinking with focus on problem solving is also a component of this position.  This position reports to the Oil Marketing Accounting Manager and is expected to be able to closely assist the manager in all duties including fill-in in the event of extended absence. 

This position will serve as a lead or consultant for a variety of complex projects and assignments. This position will provide direction and training to less senior oil marketing members. Manages and develops assigned staff.      

 Duties/Responsibilities

  • Thorough understanding of accounting concepts, guidelines, principles and practices
  • Ability to articulate this understanding to staff as well as management
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with limited supervision
  • Complete monthly departmental accounting and financial reports as assigned
  • Analysis of transportation cost and expense issues
  • Analysis of inventory status
  • Economic analysis of projects and project implication
  • Develop an understanding of up- and mid-stream oil practices as they relate to the sales and distribution of crude oil

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in oil marketing or mid-stream oil marketing
  • CPA or MBA is preferred
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Economic analysis skills
