About the Job  
You will work as a member of the OTTO Motors’ sales organization in an applications technical role as a partner to our account executives. You will be accountable for understanding customer requirements, selecting the best products, and devising solutions that ultimately improve our customer’s business and that meet or exceed the application requirements. You will also consult with channel partners and internal deployment teams to devise deployment plans that achieve the best time-to-value for the end users.    
You will be constantly interacting with customers, learning new technology, developing new system concepts, creating the foundation for successful projects, and impressing clients via virtual and in-person demonstrations of how their business can improve using our products.   
This role requires an awareness and proficiency with systems engineering, industrial engineering, project planning, and it involves interacting with many elements of our business.    
 Responsibilities:  
  • Be a pre-sales product knowledge expert, technical consultant, and content creator throughout the sales cycle.  Acquired understanding of Otto vehicle deployment methods including software functionality, safety limits, and hardware specifications.  
  • Collect and review project information in order to adequately evaluate the customer’s application  
  • Create and propose technical solutions for the customer’s application that includes the effective use of OTTO AMR’s, the definition of third-party vehicle attachments, and integration to the customers material handling infrastructure.   
  • Effectively document, present, and explain the proposed OTTO solution to the customer and their Engineering, Production, and Executive team members  
  • Enable deployment teams by supplying solution concepts, project risks, and preliminary project plans  
  • Be a trusted technical resource for customers and partners throughout the pre-sales process  
  • Collect and communicate market data and ideas to our product management organization to improve the market success of our existing and future products  
  • Contribute to department improvement initiatives to enhance the team’s efficiency and the value of its contributions to the business  
Common Tasks:  
  • Review customer RFQ/RFP type documents  
  • Collaborate with the Sales Account Managers throughout the sales process; including sales calls, strategy, solutioning, and business-case proposals.  
  • Visit customer sites to evaluate material handling operations, processes, existing equipment, and floor layout constraints  
  • Utilize Excel to review customer data, evaluate fleet size, cycle time analysis  
  • Utilize 2D CAD (DraftSight) to evaluate the facility layout, project feasibility and concepting  
  • Work with Third-party attachment providers and System Integrators to concept and budget custom material handling solutions that will interface with the Otto standard product line  
  • Review proposals and budgets with the Sales Account Managers  
  • Prepare and present slide decks of the overall project scope to the Customer  
  • Preparing project specific responsibility matrices for Customer and Otto teams  
  • Perform product demonstrations at Customer sites  
  • Collaborate with Otto’s Project, Product, and Systems Engineering Teams  
Required Skills:  
  • Engineering Degree or technical background with experience in Manufacturing, Industrial, Process or Mechanical Engineering  
  • Strong understanding of complex integrated systems, material handling, mechanical and industrial equipment and processes.   
  • Experience working directly with sales and customers  
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks, etc)  
  • Able to generate professional and impactful presentations (Powerpoint/Google)  
  • Able to effectively communicate and present proposed solutions to customers  
  • Able to quickly identify operational challenges and propose mitigation strategies  
  • Able to facilitate productive technical discussion both internally and externally  
  • Able to identify and communicate the value of OTTO’s proposed solution to the customer  
Bonus Points:  
  • Experience working with automated vehicles (i.e. AMRs or AGVs)  
  • Experience working on projects involving material handling automation, Conveyors, Palletized lines, Automated Storage and Retrieval  
  • Experience as a project manager or project engineer  
  • Experience with Simulation software (Digital Twin, Event or Process Simulation)
