Want to work on some of the biggest franchises in gaming? Certain Affinity, the largest independent video game developer in Austin, Texas, is opening a second location in Toronto, Canada — and we’re looking for exceptionally talented people to collaborate with our Austin studio. Together we’ll be co-developing AAA FPS games and creating our own compelling new IP.

We are looking for a dynamic, customer service focused individual who works quickly and efficiently, pays attention to the details and always strives to create the best environment possible to attract and retain the top talent. This position will oversee a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the day-to-day smooth running of a fast-paced and innovative company and will create best practices where our people can thrive. Flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and vendors are required. 

Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Assist with benefits and retirement plan administration, enrolling new members, effecting changes for existing staff, and interfacing with benefits carriers and plan administrators on general issues
  • Coordinate recruiting activities including sourcing candidates, manage college & university relationships, conducting the initial phone screen and coordinating interviews, tests, and reference checks
  • Onboard new hires including new hire paperwork and orientation
  • Handle staff inquiries and facilities-related requests
  • Establish a strong human resources presence in the office and partner with the Austin HR team for all HR related matters
  • Ensure all documents, records and files are properly maintained
  • Communicate with internal staff the full range of HR Company policies, guidelines, procedures along with relevant employment-related laws, regulations, and standards

Operations / Logistics

  • Manage internal event logistics including, but not limited to partners, the company, candidates, university/college, and special events
  • Be part of the security team and coordinate with Technical Operations in the management of the company’s physical security, e.g., employee badges and alarm system
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring all policies and regulations are followed, e.g., managing the Safety and Evacuation plans
  • Evaluate, establish and manage any third-party services related to facilities
  • Local point of contact for the landlord regarding all facility issues
  • Liaise with other business, operations, and leadership teams when needed

Office Management

  • Point person for greeting and supporting visitors
  • Monitor and maintain office supplies, inventory, storage, and equipment
  • Manage all shipping and receiving, including mail retrieval from on-site and off-site locations
  • Manage travel for both studios for business trips, & recruiting needs

Requirements

  • 5+ years of office management/human resources experience in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple people
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication, time management, and customer service skills, as well as strong project management and problem-solving skills
  • Experience within software or creative industry
  • Proven ability to maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive material with tact and professionalism
  • Proven organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and balance the workload
  • Highly experienced in a variety of software applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, ADP, and Jobvite
  • High level of interpersonal skills, high EQ, self-motivated, persistent, dependable, and self-sufficient
  • Extremely resourceful with good judgment in resolving issues 
  • Ability to travel internationally

Extra Credit

  • Experience in a small/dynamic company (e.g. startup) ***
  • Previous experience working in the games industry
  • Familiarity working with different HRIS tools is a definite plus
  • Familiarity with recruiting processes, managing pipelines and process flows
