Description

The Position: Under the supervision of the Nutrition Services Manager, the Dietitian must have comprehensive knowledge of clinical nutrition, therapeutic diets and basic food service operations in a community health and interdisciplinary team setting. The Dietitian completes participant nutritional assessments and makes nutrition and lifestyle recommendations based on participant health goals. Obtains participant food preferences and observes for adherence to dietary modifications and health outcomes. Determines adequacy of current diet and recommends supplements when necessary. Conducts meal and sanitation inspections. Provides nutrition education to participant and or caregiver, the community and other team members as needed.
Compensation range for the RD role at CEI is $ 30.42/hr - $ 45.62/hr.   Offers based on level of experience/education as it applies to the requirements for the position
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Attends participant reviews in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings (IDT) and Care Plan meetings.
  • Assesses participant needs and develops and implements the individualized nutritional plan of care.
  • Attends and is an active contributor in IDT Meetings.
  • Completes assessments for each participant and additional assessments as necessary for changes in medical status, weight, skin condition, meal prep ability, labs, mental status, or ADLs/IADLs.
  • Monitors therapeutic diets orders and special dietary modifications.
  • Provides nutrition education for participants, families, primary caregivers and/or day center staff.
  • Reviews the lunch and snack menus for the day center for adherence to participant dietary needs.
  • Conducts meal rounds in the day center, follows up with day center staff with comments/concerns.
  • Conducts Kitchen surveys and Diet Order audits monthly.
  • Determines participants need for home delivered meal services and liquid nutritional supplements and makes recommendations to the IDT.
  • Conducts meal preparation evaluations as requested by team and/or Occupational Therapist.
  • Assists with day center meal service as needed and monitors stock in refrigerator, dry storage, and freezer storage.
  • Orders approved liquid nutritional supplements.
  • Updates Meal Order list for home delivered meal services and Day Center meals, and sends to contracted food service facility.
  • Communicates and coordinates care with CEI Home Care team members regarding participants’ meal preparation skills, safety in kitchen, stock of groceries and intake of food and fluids at home.
  • Communicates regularly with contracted food service facility, food service companies and other vendors.
  • Oversees Geriatric Aide Lead responsibilities related to dietary expenditures, kitchen needs, monitoring meal service, and discusses nutritional concerns.  Assists in implementing policies and procedures.
  • Assists in training of day center and dietary staff on food service related policies.
  • Participates in work area development, in-service training and department meetings.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures, results and information about participants or families.
  • Follows all CEI Policies and Procedures.
  • Complies with all agency training requirements
  • Maintains safe working environment by following CEI’s safety P&P’s
  • Maintains a courteous, helpful and professional attitude on the job. Displays a willingness and ability to be responsive to all customer groups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in a positive and helpful manner.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university in food and nutrition science, required
  • Certified by the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian, required
  • Experience: minimum of 1-year experience in a health care facility, preferred.
  • Current valid Food Manager Certificate (ServSafe), preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of clinical nutrition and therapeutic diets. Ability to assess seniors nutritional needs. Skilled in medical terminology, including knowledge of the appropriate documentation for completing written assessments. Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with employees, seniors and the public.
