The purpose of the Health Services Graduate Assistant is to provide clerical and administrative assistance to the Health Service Office. The ideal candidate possesses strong computer knowledge and customer service skills.

Key Job Duties       

  1. Mission Contribution. CCU’s mission is Christ-centered higher education transforming students to impact the world with grace and truth. In this role, the Graduate Assistant contributes to the mission by working in health services with exemplary character, personal spiritual growth, and engagement with the CCU community and community at large.     
  2.  Maintains immunization and health insurance records and communicates with students who are missing documents.     
  3.  Track and process payments for medical supplies     
  4.  Answers phones, responding to inquiries, directing calls, in a timely fashion.     
  5.  Attain an understanding of the health professions area that can be directly related back to his/her own academic future career.  
  6.  Meet on a regular basis with your professional mentor (Director of Health Services) to discuss assignments, vision, and/or professional growth.     
  7.  Gain competency in performing basic clinical tasks and vocabulary that can be transferred to any medical setting in one’s future career.     
  8.  Assist in Health Services duties, which may include welcoming patients, filing, making new charts, scanning, shredding, making appointments and taking messages when needed.         
  9. Maintains immunization and health insurance records and communicates with students who are missing documents.
  10. Track and process payments for medical supplies.
  11. Trains student staff in using Practice Fusion, health record, and other duties related to health services.
  12. Assist in organizing blood drives, flu shot clinics, etc.       
Work Environment    
While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends. Colorado Christian University expects all faculty and staff to become a part of the University community by participating in activities and events that occur on the campus throughout the year, which may occur during evenings and weekends.    
Graduate Assistant Program Details

The Graduate Assistant position is a minimum of a two year commitment and coincides with the entrance into and completion of a graduate program at CCU. Students may take 2-3 years to complete their academic program, depending on the program selected. Graduate Assistants are expected to complete a minimum of two years of service, and to stay in their role through the end of the fiscal year (June 30) in which they complete their graduate program.

The Graduate Assistant must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university and be accepted and enrolled in one of CCU’s graduate programs. The standard workweek is 25 hours per week and will not exceed an average of 29 hours per week during the year.    
Compensation includes hourly pay at the contracted rate of $14.42 per hour and tuition waiver for completion of a master's degree through Colorado Christian University's College of Adult and Graduate Studies. The recipient is responsible for student fees each semester.

Spiritual Requirements

  1. Committed follower of Jesus Christ, who believes there is no salvation apart from faith in his atonement on the cross, by grace alone becoming "born again" thus beginning a personal relationship with Christ, the Son of God.
  2. Able to effectively communicate personal faith and apply biblical principles and convictions in the workplace. Must have a strong sense of calling to the ministry of Colorado Christian University.
  3. Regularly attend and be engaged in meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church. Knowledgeable about the Word of God and passionate about Christian education.
  4. Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU’s Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Priorities promulgated by the University.
