Reporting to the EVP and Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the Company’s executive team, the General Counsel will oversee and be actively engaged in all elements of the Company’s legal needs.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge across a wide range of legal disciplines as well as the business acumen necessary to support various business units. The General Counsel should possess the ability and interpersonal skills to excel in a high-growth, dynamic, global enterprise.

 Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee internal and external legal team and resources, including managing legal P&L, pending litigation, intellectual property suite, outside counsel and other vendors
  • Actively engage in structuring, drafting and negotiating a wide range of strategic and commercial agreements, including M&A, partnership, product and brand licensing, sponsorship, real estate, technology services and other agreements
  • Oversee Company disputes and risk profile to ensure best practices, including working with internal business units, insurance providers, health and safety vendors and outside counsel on case management
  • Enforce and defend Company’s intellectual property rights globally, engaging outside counsel when necessary, and effect the Company’s general corporate strategy
  • Play integral role in the development of Company policies and procedures, including risk management, workers compensation, employment, privacy, document retention and trademark uses
  • Advise and assist Human Resources with employee matters, as needed
  • Serve as primary legal advisor to Company’s executive team, Board of Directors and investors, as applicable


  • 12+ years of combined legal experience, preferably with at least 4-6 years of experience at a reputable mid-to-large-size firm  and a comparable minimum amount of in-house experience (preferably as General Counsel for a portion of such experience)
  • Meaningful experience with both corporate and litigation matters, with a preference for candidates with law firm experience in corporate practice
  • Demonstrable proficiency in intellectual property law, including with respect to both commercial and  enforcement issues
  • Experience overseeing risk management and related matters, including working with insurance providers and outside counsel on case management
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the requisite ability and drive to independently produce high quality work product in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience with any of the following a plus but not required: domestic and international tax law, entertainment law, franchise law and/or in-house experience at an event production company
  • Strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills, intellectual curiosity and business acumen
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Massachusetts or able to meet requirements for Massachusetts in-house attorney exemption
  • JD from an accredited law school
