Software/Firmware Engineering Austin, Texas

As a key member of our Software Tools team, you will empower product groups throughout Cirrus to deliver the exceptional tools that customers need to integrate Cirrus audio solutions into their consumer electronics devices. The desktop tools software that you design and implement will be used internally to author feature-rich graphical configuration and tuning experiences, as well as being delivered externally to our customers to allow them to utilize those experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a large, globally-distributed software team to develop advanced desktop software tools running on both Windows and Mac
  • Work on your own or collaboratively with other team members, to design, develop and test new software features that make the authoring of graphical configuration and tuning experiences for our chips easier and more efficient
  • Break project requirements down into stories and tasks, and work with other specialists to develop accurate work estimates
  • Collaborate closely with the entire dev team for stand-ups, requirement gathering and project planning
  • Ensure our development processes have a focus on quality, scalability and performance
  • Support and maintain our deliverables

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant discipline and 5+ years of directly related experience developing high-quality software
  • Expertise in Java (or similar statically-typed system language C#, C++)
  • A track record of non-trivial application development for the desktop or for smartphones
  • Strong object-oriented design and development skills
  • Deep understanding of multi-threaded systems, multi-process systems, IPC
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture fundamentals including registers, stack, memory, addressing and integer encodings
  • Familiarity with Python, Ruby or similar system scripting language
  • Eagerness to work iteratively and collaboratively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with both internal and external users

  • JavaFX, Swing, XAML/.NET, Qt or similar high-level UI frameworks
  • Build system creation along with skills in build and test automation
  • IDE plugin creation

  • Experience with digital audio internals, audio signal processing, audio DSP signal chains, and microcontroller interfaces and configuration
  • Knowledge of audio integrated circuits, audio/multimedia electronics, digital electronics, hardware bus protocols (I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth)
  • Professional (or hobbyist interest) in working with embedded hardware platforms
