Certain Affinity is seeking a smart, versatile, driven self-starter to join our growing company. As Senior Business Manager you will support the President and founder of the company directly, enhancing his impact and influence by driving the execution of key cross-company initiatives, performing research on a wide range of business and game-related topics, helping direct his focus and maximize his time, and helping others in the company understand his perspective.

This role requires a combination of strong project management, business acumen, resourcefulness, and collaboration across a broad range of functions and teams. A successful candidate will have the ability to think strategically and will be team-oriented with excellent communication skills. Establishing a strong working relationship at all levels of the organization is critical to the success of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a wide array of cross-functional initiatives and projects as assigned by the company President
    • Facilitate meeting logistics, agenda, and follow-ups where appropriate
    • Gather stakeholders and help drive alignment and decision making
    • Ensure proper cross-department engagement, communication, and collaboration
    • Capture and follow up on issues and help drive them to closure
    • Ensure materials are complete, meet quality bar, and achieve overall objectives; assess and report on outcomes
  • Facilitate efficient and productive interactions with the President
    • Gain a clear understanding of President’s views and positions on key issues
    • Be a sounding board for people seeking President’s perspective and/or approval on requests, proposals, and presentations
    • Arrange opportunities for staff at all levels to get to know the President to understand his perspective better, while also sharing their own
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the President and the executive leadership team
    • Build connections at all levels in the company to keep an “ear to the ground”; report on findings and help identify opportunities for improved communication, process improvements, and training
    • Regularly meet with key leaders in the company and help relay their views and concerns to senior company leadership
  • Maximize the President’s impact
    • Promote understanding of the President’s perspective across the organization
    • Reinforce the company’s strategy, values, culture, focus and priorities in various meetings and interactions
    • Ensure the President is involved in the appropriate decision-making, at the right time
    • Help manage the President’s time by evaluating and managing requests
    • Facilitate key interactions between the President and company leaders and team members
  • Perform research and other assistance
    • Research as requested on a wide range of business and game-related topics; prepare clear, concise research summaries and reports
    • Assist with the creation of presentations and other documents, including for company meetings and investor meetings
    • Review and provide constructive feedback on internal and external communications by the President, and on the President’s behalf, as requested, including presentations, and speeches 

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a Business Manager, Chief of Staff, or similar position
  • Organized and self-managed, able to juggle disparate projects and conflicting demands in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Motivated self-starter with exceptional work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working with all levels of management and staff and working cooperatively as a team player
  • Sound judgment with proven ability to anticipate problems and work proactively to resolve them
  • Strong analytical, project management and customer service skills and experience
  • An astute observer with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to think holistically, strategically, and creatively on key challenges
  • High level of skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Valid passport with the ability to travel within the United States and abroad

Extra Credit

  • Passion for gaming, game development, and the games industry
  • Ability to gather, organize, and synthesize data and knack for creating compelling visualizations of this data using charts, infographics, and other methods
  • Experience with international business relationship management
  • Related experience in software development, game development, or publishing
  • Proficient in G Suite, Google’s cloud-based business productivity and collaboration products
  • Bilingual in Mandarin
  • Familiarity with a range of cloud-based productivity and communication products (e.g., Slack, Trello, SmartSheets)
  • BS in Business, Communications, or Economics; MBA preferred
