The Director Diamond, Supply Management is responsible for developing and driving sourcing strategies for the diamond category that enable the company to capture greater category market share, maintain competitive pricing and industry leading quality consistent with the Blue Nile aesthetic and style.  He/she builds and maintains strong vendor relationships, aggressively negotiates costs, supports optimal inventory levels and ensures on time delivery.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and leads the implementation of the merchandising strategy consistent with the company’s overall strategic, brand and financial goals
  • Managing the procurement of diamonds and to support merchandising and inventory plans
  • Optimizes virtual and asset diamond inventory and pricing to drive revenue and margin growth
  • Develops and maintains strong vendor partnerships and manage vendor accounts with diamond suppliers to insure scalable high quality diamond supply at competitive prices
  • Develops, monitors and strategically manages Blue Nile’s vendor base to ensure growth, scalability and profitability
  • Drives new means of acquiring ideal diamond supply  
  • Enhances the business skill sets of the vendor base to insure Blue Nile is working with the strongest vendors in the industry
  • Creates and inspires insightful analyses and recommendations to drive the business
  • Manages diamond pricing model to maximize sales and margins 
  • Manages day to day supply chain execution and vendor management
  • Mentors, coaches, develops and motivates team members to understand business objectives and achieve performance goals
  • Develops the skill sets and drive the work plans for the merchandising and planning team
  • Embraces innovation and opportunities which move the company’s merchandising strategy forward
  • Works cross functionally to facilitate coordination with multiple teams across the organization to drive efficiency, profitability, creativity and a superior customer experience
  • Travels to procure diamonds and visits tradeshows to develop relationships and extend procurement

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in merchandising, buying, planning
  • 5+ with management experience
  • Exceptional Excel skills required, including the ability to manipulate large sets of data
  • Robust understanding of pricing strategy, previous Retail Pricing experience preferred
  • Strong business acumen; ability to see the big picture and the ability to understand and solve for strategic objectives
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely effective, fact based decisions
  • Travel - Up to 15%
