- Capitol Broadcasting Company is seeking a highly skilled Engineer to join our dynamic WRAL-TV team. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our technical facilities, with a focus on computer-based systems. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in troubleshooting and problem-solving, and a passion for delivering high-quality results.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Maintenance:
- Contribute to the day-to-day technical maintenance of all equipment, including cameras, switchers, audio consoles, graphics systems, and other production equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Computer Hardware and Software Expertise:
- Utilize expertise in computer hardware and software to maintain and optimize related systems, including servers and workstations.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot software applications.
- Configure and repair computer hardware, including replacement of parts in desktop, laptop, and rack-mounted servers.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to staff during newscast operations.
- Collaborate with team members to address technical challenges and enhance overall quality.
- Emerging Technologies:
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Evaluate and recommend new equipment and technologies to enhance the efficiency and capabilities of the facility.
- Emergency Response:
- Implement emergency response plans for technical failures or other critical situations.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and response to urgent technical issues.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Create and update technical manuals and training materials as needed.
7. Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational operations and goals.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of signal flow, and production workflows.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies.
