Description

Capitol Broadcasting Company is seeking a Brand and Visual Communications Design Manager to join our team at the Durham Bulls. As a key member of our marketing department, this role will oversee the development and execution of high-quality visual assets and multimedia content that align with the Durham Bulls brand, its sister baseball properties, and help enhance the overall fan experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Team Management: Assist in the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of creative staff. Manage and work alongside a team of talented creatives. Oversee department projects and tasks to ensure efficient workflows, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of quality. Be meticulous with copy and brand communication. Foster a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment to ensure team members are motivated and engaged.
  • Creative Direction: Under the guidance of the Sr Director of Brand & Crea􀆟ve Services, develop and implement a creative vision for the Durham Bulls brand, ensuring consistency across all visual assets. Adhere to the established brand and style guide.
  • Hands-On Design: Contribute to the design and production of various marketing materials, including ingame presentation graphics and animations, print, digital, and social media assets. Demonstrate strong
    graphic design skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Photography Direction: Take a hands-on approach to capturing images under the direction of the Sr Director of Brand & Creative Services. This includes, but is not limited to, headshots, in-game photography, and specialty projects.
  • Video Content Production: Produce and manage content distribution during the season and as needed for specialty events. Collaborate with the video team to create engaging and shareable content.
  • Social Media Content Deployments: Develop and execute social media content strategies to engage fans and drive online traffic. Monitor social media analytics and adjust content strategy as needed.
  • Digital Ad Management: Oversee the creation and management of digital advertising campaigns across various platforms. Analyze campaign performance and optimize for maximum ROI.
  • Vendor Management: Source and manage relationships with external graphic designers, photographers, printers, and partners. Ensure quality standards are met, and maintain strong contractor relationships.
  • Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: Thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where deadlines are tight, and priorities can shift quickly. 
  • Agility to Make Changes: Be able to adapt to changing project requirements and make necessary updates without compromising quality or timelines.
Other Duties:
  • Expected to work and assist all events held at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
  • Other general Front Office duties – including assisting with hiring events, special events, pulling tarp and other general duties involving working in a Minor League Front Office.
  • Assist with creating team community relations initiatives, as well as the execution and promotion of such events.

Qualification Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, photography, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in graphic design and photography, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience with Video Editing Platforms (Premiere, Davinci, Final Cut Pro)
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of creative professionals.
  • Strong understanding of graphic design principles, typography, color theory, and layout.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere, and Lightroom).
  • Experience managing budgets and project timelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Portfolio demonstrating a strong track record of successful design projects within the sports or
    entertainment industry (preferred).
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • People oriented, able to multi-task, be organized, motivated and detail focused.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and all events.
