The Planning group provides fully integrated planning and management as well as project development services for our clients. We apply our national knowledge and leadership while leveraging the strength of regional expertise to bring experience from across the country and extensive Federal level to understand our clients’ needs.   
 
The Senior Project Manager will work closely with the Resilience and Sustainability (R&S) Practice Lead and Team lead to oversee and deliver an expanded portfolio of R&S related projects and client services. Responsibilities include development of value propositions to support expanded analytical capability and tools which position CS to meet client needs and new market opportunities. The Senior Project Manager will coordinate project and proposal activities across business lines to leverage internal resources and staff expertise which inform business development opportunities and drive emerging practice service offerings targeted to federal, state and local clients, particularly national research, State DOTs and regional/local agencies. The Senior Project Manager will support priority clients for the R&S practice area and collaborate with other practice areas including asset management, freight, analytics, and others to develop joint offerings.   
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
 
Project Management 
•Delivers all projects on-time, on-budget, and to the client or project manager’s satisfaction •Provides constructive and ongoing feedback to project team members •Provides clear direction to all project staff regarding project objectives and their role in achieving them •Develops and implements project delivery plan for each project •Updates project staffing in CS staffing program on time each month •Reviews and submits invoices and progress reports on time 
 
Business Development 
•Participates in regional, business unit, practice area, and other business development initiative meetings to identify and coordinate BD and marketing activities •Contributes to sound bid/no-bid decisions •Develops effective win themes, teaming strategies, pricing strategies, and technical content for all proposals in area of responsibility •Builds and maintains long-term client relationships and actively listens to their needs •Maintains post-delivery communication with clients to ensure long-term satisfaction and to prospect for repeat/expanded business •Builds strong positive relationships with management, NPLs and senior consultants, and marketing & communications staff to develop winning proposals •Supports geographic and topic-area expansion to help meet growth targets. 
 
Project Delivery 
•Produces and delivers exceptional quality work that is thorough, polished, and reflects well on CS •Provides exceptional value-added service to project managers and/or clients and communicates consistently with internal and external team members •Actively listens and seeks to understand client or project manager needs •Meets chargeability expectations 
 
Position Requirements 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, or a related area
  • 12+ years of industry-related experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects and leading proposals
  • Experience leading vulnerability and risk assessments, long-range transportation plans, and related resilience plans
  • Collaboration with aligned topic areas including asset management, freight and supply chain planning, grant-writing support, digital transformation, and analytics
  • Strong and effective communication, presentation, and technical writing skills
  • Proficient in GIS/spatial tools and software, project management tracking and reporting tools and data analysis (Excel or other online based programs) which translate technical outcomes to visually engaging presentations and media
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Master’s degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, or a related area
  • 5+ years of experience in public sector consulting and professional services
