The Opportunity

Leverage your industry expertise and join our expanding team in this Financial Planning Analyst role! The Financial Planning Analyst is responsible for providing granular data and analysis on business issues, planning, budgeting, and forecasting across the company for management’s use in strategic and tactical decision-making. This position will provide a finance point-of-view in helping the department make sound business decisions. This hybrid role will work in our Raleigh office a minimum of two days with the flexibility of remote work three days a week.

Your WORK as a Financial Planning Analyst will make a difference as you:

  • Engage business and operations partners to create detailed financial plans and influence investment decisions
  • Analyze performance, identify areas of risk and opportunity, and make recommendations to finance and business leadership for improvements
  • Support the financial planning process at the department level, inclusive of budgets, re-forecasts, capital planning, and long-term plans.
  • Help define and load data into models
  • Consolidate smaller forecasts and models into the overall plan and reports
  • Conduct analysis of business units, portfolio segments, geographic territories, business lines, and acquisitions
  • Gather data to track and review the performance of strategic initiatives
  • Learn, prepare, and maintain financial models and tools
  • Develop relevant reporting including data preparation, report creation, and quality control; strive to deliver insight, consistent data, and effective visualizations
  • Monitor operational statistics, report trends, variances, and issues; take appropriate action to notify the business or financial partners.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses
  • Assist in building business cases and perform due diligence on potential opportunities and business initiatives
  • Apply financial and economic concepts including financial modeling, economic analysis, cash flow, profitability, balance sheet, taxes, financial ratios, KPIs, ROI/NPV/IRR, cost of capital, and strategic analysis
  • Demonstrate finance, business, and industry expertise; learn the strategy, drivers, metrics, and data elements of the company
  • Establish credibility through respectful, thoughtful interactions, attention to detail, professional integrity, and excellent financial insight.

SKILLS to get the JOB done RIGHT:

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor’s degree in the field of accounting
  • Experience using SQL or other equivalent database languages
  • Experience using visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Qlik Sense, or Tableau
  • Experience with data management
  • Working experience with EPM systems
  • Knowledge of financial concepts and principals
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Highly organized and able to multi-task
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail
  • Expertise in MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

Preferences:

  • MBA or an advanced degree in business, management, or finance preferred.
  • FP&A certification preferred
  • SAP/GAAP knowledge preferred.
