The OPPORTUNITY       

        

The success of our company is rooted in teamwork, the way we care about the people we work with and serve. Leverage your industry expertise and join our expanding team in this remote Middle Market Underwriter role as you do your best work from your home office, collaborating virtually with your team daily. You will travel to our Raleigh office for meetings and company events up to four times a year. This commercial underwriter will manage an assigned book of business, containing workers compensation, commercial package, business auto, and inland marine lines of business for construction industry clients We are seeking qualified applicants who reside in our footprint (North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi).       

      

        

Your WORK as a Middle Market Underwriter will make a difference as you:       

  • Review new business submissions and makes final risk acceptability and pricing decisions on all applicants within authority of $150,000 account premium. For those risks beyond the underwriter’s authority, the underwriter analyzes the risk and makes appropriate recommendations to management.
  • Review and make pricing and coverage decisions on renewals within designated authority
  • Order and review loss control surveys and takes appropriate action based on survey results and recommendations
  • Monitor underwriting quality and pricing for the entire book of business as well as at the agency level
  • Keep abreast of changing rules and laws pertaining to commercial insurance

Skills to get the JOB done RIGHT:       

  • BA/BS Degree preferred with at least 3-5 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good working knowledge of the technical aspects of each line of business
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large territory size, maintaining profitability and high levels of customer service and quality
  • Strong PC proficiency
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
