Operations

The schools run by Bridge, have to operate in the most efficient and effective way possible to enable us provide life changing education that is affordable to families living below the poverty line, and governments with limited resources.  This means there is no room for waste and inefficiencies. The Operations Team is responsible for the design, execution and management of the entire sequence of processes required to service the activities of each school, and for providing that support at scale in the most cost efficient and effective way possible. Operations is the nerve centre of the company and is the interface that brings all school-level support functions together. Our mission is to provide a better service for our parents and governments, a better experience for our employees, and a stable platform on which we continue to scale our work.

Supply Chain

Supply Chain is at the forefront of building an incredibly lean organization and seats within the Operations group. The team is responsible for establishing and managing the processes, systems, and tools related to Procurement, Logistics, Warehousing, and Inventory Management of all goods required to service the activities of each school and central office in each of our territories.  The Shared Services Supply Chain function also supports the implementation of best-practices and standards across all the territories we operate in and ensures that our supply chain activities are architected for growth, rapid change and on demand/on site order fulfillment.

 

About the Role

The Vice President, Supply Chain is responsible for providing overall leadership to the Supply Chain teams in territory as well as overseeing the central procurement, production and shipment of school apparel, print materials and technological devices that enable the delivery of a world class quality education to pupils in each academy in each territory. This is a highly hands-on job, involving intense project management, multi team coordination and deep technical knowledge of all areas of supply chain. For this role, we need someone who has the experience of working in a fast growth, multi-unit environment, managing complex logistics and warehousing processes, and who proactively dives into the nitty gritty to improve processes and systems.

The role is based in our Hyderabad shared services office, supporting all operating markets and support offices across the globe.

 

What You Will Do

        Provide leadership for our Supply Chain teams and build a zero tolerance environment for fraud and leakage.

        Identify, qualify and manage vendor relationships, ensuring that we are getting quality products per requirements and specifications at the best prices within required timelines.

        Negotiate and oversee execution of vendor contracts for shared services centrally procured products including master services agreements that oversee products procured in territories from companies that have an overseas foreign parent.

        Improve overall procurement cost efficiencies by identifying products and services currently decentralized in territories that could be centralized at the shared services or regional level for further cost savings e.g. Global Telecom services, Global Travel Services

        Work with various internal stakeholders to accurately and consistently forecast what will be needed, and when.

        Design warehousing and inventory management strategies alongside territory teams to eliminate stock-out issues and ensure our parents and their children aren’t kept waiting.

        Work with various internal and external stakeholders to oversee timely and cost-effective delivery of shipments from our vendors across the globe to our operating countries and territories. 

        Lead the charge to ensure that we are getting the best pricing and service from our shipping vendors, and that all export and import rules and regulations are abided by across operating countries.

        Support the implementation of best-practice and standards to all our countries and ensure that our supply chain activities are architected for growth, cost effectiveness, and on demand/on site order fulfilment.

 

What You Should Have

        Bachelor’s degree required. MBA is preferred

        Minimum of 10 years of experience within Supply Chain and Logistics operations

        Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manager or director level role is required.

        Deep experience with warehousing, inventory management, global sourcing and international logistics

        Supplier/vendor management experience in Asia (India, China, Bangladesh) and Africa (Egypt, Ethiopia) is a plus

        Excellent organizational, leadership, analytical problem solving and strategic thinking skills

        Ability to build cross-functional partnerships and engage in and lead cross-functional teams and initiatives

        Ability to discuss a wide range of topics from supply chain business strategy to the tactical execution of the strategy

        Demonstrated negotiation, vendor management and leadership skills

        Must have working knowledge of apparel and print facilities, equipment, operations and management

        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

        High integrity with zero tolerance for any unethical business practices

        Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with dynamic priorities and demands
