The Sr. Product Designer should be a strong user advocate and design thinking evangelist within the organization while closely working with BlackLine clients, stakeholders, product managers, and engineers. This position is responsible for defining and articulating user needs and collaborating and aligning with product and engineering partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with designers and leadership, product managers, and engineering to define design requirements
  • Scope, estimate and plan design efforts
  • Collect, evaluate and analyze user/product/engineering feedback, heuristics, and analytics to inform and improve product features and behaviors throughout the application
  • Use fundamental principles of visual design
  • Create wireframes, user flows, storyboards, and prototypes, as well as other design deliverables
  • Understand the opportunities and limitations of the technology and collaborate with developers to provide design solutions
  • Create solutions for multi-lingual/localized web apps
  • Effectively present team’s work to stakeholders
  • Contribute to BlackLine design system by maintaining and updating documentation through the lifecycle of re-usable or global components/models as they evolve over iterations
  • Actively engage in design team’s initiatives, including as design guidelines, best practices, standards, and process enhancements
  • Mentor junior members of the team

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, HCI, or other related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 5–7 years of experience as an interaction, user experience, or a product designer
  • A strong knowledge of design processes and methodology
  • Competency in user research, user needs evaluation, metrics and measurements, IA, interaction design, prototyping, visual design, stakeholder management, design strategy and planning, and workshop facilitation
  • Familiarity with design system as a contributor
  • Experience working with large data sets/volumes of information
  • Experience with lean UX (rapid discovery, prototyping, testing and iteration)
  • Responsive design, native iOS and Android design experience
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills to articulate concepts, feedback and rationale and promote UX led initiatives
  • Kind, assertive, positive, easy to work with, team player with strong work ethics
  • Strong design portfolio to demonstrate above qualifications
