Main Accountabilities:
  • Supports technology, product and/or services research and development, assists in the functional definition of new subsystems as to ensure serviceability, reliability, and human factors of the technical solution by performing more complex design control, evaluation, and/or testing. 
  • Ensures technological, business and/or scientific watch in the relevant expertise to consider suitable solutions; understands business rationale in the choice of the foreseen solutions.
  • Ensures the identified solutions, taking also into account all environmental items (like cost, regulations) are relevant; by performing technical or process reviews, by facilitating risk analysis, by controlling implementation and by facilitating information exchanges between departments that contributes to the definition of suitable solutions. 
  • Promotes the growth of technical or business expertise of team members through mentoring and targeted on the task training. 
  • Assures that all relevant documentation is created. 
  • Assures knowledge transfer to other function (in or outside R&D) for product launch by training, documentation and support in case of complex problems within the area of expertise. 
     
     
    Position Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with  5+ years’ experience in new product development designing mechanical systems, equipment and components for mass production.
    • Training/proficiency in Mechanical CAD (Solidworks preferred), PLM systems (Windchill preferred), Design for Manufacturability, CAD modeling, rapid prototyping
    • Adept at creating detailed engineering drawings per ANSI/ASME standards using good drafting practices.
    • Direct experience applying GD&T to engineering drawings with applicable tolerance analysis to drive design parameters.
    • Experience engineering parts that use common manufacturing methods and materials, such as injection-molded plastic, machining, and sheet metal.
    • Candidate must be well grounded in mechanical engineering design principles with demonstrated hands-on design competency.
    • Perform theoretical engineering analysis on prospective designs.
