Member of Technical Staff - Big Cloud Fabric

Job Overview

The engineer will work on the Big Cloud Fabric application on the Floodlight software-defined networking (SDN) controller. Big Cloud Fabric™ is the next-generation data center switching fabric that leverages SDN to make networks intelligent, agile and flexible. We are seeking an engineer to design and implement features that will enhance capabilities of the fabric, improve scalability and better integrate the fabric with cloud management platforms. The engineer will be part of a talented, deeply technical and dynamic team.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Architect/Design/Code/Test/Automate various features of Big Cloud Fabric.
  • Develop software to automate Big Cloud Fabric and integrate it with third-party data center management solutions.
  • Understand customer use cases and come up with solutions for these.
  • Closely work with product management team to decide what features to build.
  • Work on solving complex customer issues.
  • Take complete ownership of features and ensure high quality and performance.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

  • Experience coding in C, C++ or Java
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or closely related field required. Ph.D. a plus
  • Excellent programming, problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Ability to solve complex distributed systems and networking issues
  • Excels at communicating with cross-functional teams
  • Strong project management skills

Desired Qualifications / Experience:

  • Self Starter - someone who is able to work independently with little hands-on supervision delivering to aggressive timelines
  • Networking domain experience such as L2/L3 control plane, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), L4 - L7 network services integration, etc.
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience working with switch packet forwarding pipelines.
