The Fleet Mechanic Trainee is responsible for performing PM inspections on all types of vehicles, executing basic repairs, ordering parts, and taking inventory. As a Mechanic Trainee, you will be working under our experienced Mechanics to learn the trade and advance your career. 
Core Duties:
  • Perform preventive and routine maintenance on our various pieces of equipment which range from light duty gas cars and SUVs, medium duty gas vans & pickup trucks, heavy duty diesel semi tractors, trailers with lift gates and box van trucks with lift gates.
  • Service and repair the various systems found on the gas and diesel equipment which range from mechanical, air/pneumatic, hydraulic, brakes, steering, and suspension.
  • Communicate with driver’s about pre and post trip DVIRs, that cause an unsafe condition within the vehicle.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with company and OHSA standards

Strong Candidates Have:

  • Completed or pursing a degree in related field or 2 years in warehouse operations with an emphasis in fleet and warehouse maintenance
  • Ability to become forklift certified.
  • Class A driver’s license or the ability to obtain Class A. 
  • Driving record which meets Bernick's minimum standards.
  • DOT inspection certification, or the ability to become certified. 
  • Ability to read basic instructions and write routine reports
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and quantities
  • Ability to operate personal computer
  • Ability to move and/or lift up to 50 lbs

Hours: Flexible

  • Mon-Fri (no weekends)
  • Flexible for Full-time or Part-Time hours
